What In The Wide Wide World Of Sports Is Going On? · 3:18pm Jun 29th, 2016
I'm all for people to review my work and make some suggestions. But lately I've had two attacks by persons who think that they have all the answers and no other opinion is valid.
We as a writing community cannot stand for this. People have to realize that there is no such thing as "Constructive Criticism". Construct means to build up. Criticize means to tear down. You can't constructively tear something down! It don't work that way.
So take this as you want, if you like my stories, my humble thanks. If you don't, you don't have to read them!
Wwat
Yiu can constructively criticize
Basically constructive criticism seems to be praising and bashing something at the same time. Isn't that basically an oxymoron?
Wasn't the quote "Those who can't do, criticize" That or teach....I don't remember which.
Constructive criticism is possible. If they tell you "This is a problem in your story and this is what you could do to help it be better" That is constructive criticism.
If they're just saying "This part of your story sucks" Then they're just being an ass.

You are mostly right. You can't "Constructively Criticize" but you can offer constructive suggestions and even points of view, even if they are negative.
The problem with some people is that they have taken on themselves the role of FanFic Cop.
I wonder how bad of a spasm they would have with e. e. cummings?
You three have been more than gracious with the way you have respond to my work. There is no reason anyone should respond otherwise.
If I'm not mistaken, MLP-FIM is about tolerance and respect. I, for one, take it seriously.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
The Old Brony says,
Peace out!
While I do like feedback and have even changed things in some of my stories thanks to good criticism, I have seen some people who are a bit silly in their opinions.
Funny enough, last major one for me was as an editor. Someone commented on the errors and I explained the system *Basically the writer wants me to e-mail him the fixes after he publishes the story as opposed to fixing it up before release*. I explained this to him, but he really wasn't accepting of it, and said I should be editing using 'Industry standard', regardless of what the writer preferred. I was not aware this was an industry.

You're right. This is art, and no one has a right to tell the artist how to create.
Keep true to your self!
Definition of criticism.
:the art of evaluating or analyzing works of art or literature; also : writings expressing such evaluation or analysis <an anthology of literary criticism>
Definition of constructive.
: helping to develop or improve something : helpful to someone instead of upsetting and negative
Examples of constructive in a sentence:
I tried to offer constructive criticism.
Your feedback was not very constructive.
You said "People need to realize that there is no such thing as constructive criticism." I'm just pointing out that that statement is absurd and made me laugh.
You need to look at the context of the person giving said criticism to find out if it's a positive or negative critique. Someone could be giving an honest opinion with the intention of helping you write better, or they could just be salty and trying to upset you. It's up to you to find the good advice and ignore the hate. If you can't do that my suggestion is don't read the comments at all. :3
4056652 Actually, the latter part is still constructive criticism. It's pointing out a flaw that exists that should be removed. Like, for example, replacing the rotted ceiling joists in a house. There are many options you can take to replace it, but that ceiling joist is still rotted and possibly molding.
4082882 True. But barely. They're hardly being constructive. But you are still right.
