Venting Frustration - Copyright Laws or Monopoly? · 3:06pm Jun 25th, 2016

So, I just got done reading the copyright and fair use laws. Ugh... basically, it's impossible for artists and other creators to turn a profit on their works (fan fiction or fan art) even when it's pretty obvious the "product" is not official. I guess some companies are pretty lenient, but when I can't seel my drawings because, god forbid, some asshole thinks my character is copyrighted -ahem- DA prints reviewer -cogh- by someone who didn't create her.

So, upon reading the layman's vertion of the law, it's pretty obvious that a lot of these bigger companies want every bit of profit all to themselves. It would be one thing if every artist was capable of creating purely original content, but, not every artist is. I have a few original things but haven't spent much time on putting them forth (seeing as how I don't have the abillity to generate and audience) and the audiences have already been taken by other things and are usually not ready for every new thing that comes out and ingores it all.

You can't tell you've never passed up some new thing because you're enamored with something else at the moment.

So, yeah. Copyrighting, although very good for protecting original works and so on, seems to be more along the lines of a legal monopoly scam by big corporations and businesses that can afford high-dollar lawyers.

So, what? Now I cen't sell MY WORK, my drawings and art and writing, because I have a character that vaguely resembles something else? Fucking brilliant, dude. This is just another thing that makes me hate humanity as a whole. Now, I'm pretty tollerant, myself. I know there are lots of good people out there, some within those corporations, businesses, and companies I've eluded to, but I generally believe the vast majority of people are idiots or liars, which is why I keep my friendships as strong as possible because I don't want to hang out with other people because then I have to worry about those others' dumb assses getting me in trouble.

Anyway. I hope you enjoyed this little, frustrated rant. I don't do it often, but this really got to me. Basically, someone telling me I can't make money off my efforts because they hold a piece of paper saying that I can't.

Do what the Fighting Herd crew did, make 'original' characters that are just almost similar yet not of the copy righted design. They have ponies, so make Deer or other small horse like creatures. Work around the law so they cant say Hey that's OUR money design, and still have a something to show for your efforts. Hell Even Faust helped them with new designs. Why not expand on what you can do and fuck them over by doing 'unique' designs of small equine like creatures that are not mlp ponies yet close enough to be similar yet not.
Then again I don't know how far a jew corporation like that would go just to get every shekel out of innocent fans.
Long story short, Dont give up on your passion, find a way around the legal bullshit and have fun

Vexerfrost has a really good point, I know you'll think of something Ravioli. Don't take this corporate nonsense!
