Fleeting Light Book - Now Available!

Well, it took a bit longer than I wanted, but I finally finished updating the FIMFiction versions of the stories in the Fleeting Light series—and caught like three more errors in the printed version—so the book is now officially for sale!

    Everfree and Revisions

It's just under a week away and I cannot wait, so I figured a reminder post about Everfree Northwest would be a good idea.

Fleeting Light Print - Ready to Go

Finally got things locked in for my book. It's all ready for Everfree Northwest in August (and Lulu just afterwards).

The exterior cover and interior story art have also been shared on Twitter, so here's my post to share them with everyone here if you have not seen them.

    Covers, Both Inside and Out

I received the second proof of my printing of the Fleeting Light series, and besides some brightness issues that I'm getting tips on correcting, it turned out incredibly.

So, I think it's time to show off a commission I'm beyond ecstatic and pleased with how it turned out. Say goodbye to the old blandness:

Looking for help · 3:41am Jun 23rd, 2016

You know, I don't really know if it's right to post something like this here. I never really did blogs, except for jokes and the one time I had a reading of a story done. I also haven't really written a story in... we're getting on three years now? I didn't even really interact with the community except for a small number of people, and only read like 30 stories. I also don't really know how many people will care about this. Regardless, I think I need to take a leap of faith here.

I've been trying to write another sequel to Fleeting Light off and on (mostly off) for close to a year now, and while I have what I want to do decided, I just can't seem to sit down and get it done. Maybe I'm not as enthusiastic about it as I was before, or I'm just not really interested in writing, or I'm a stupid lazy jerk. Whatever the reason, I still feel a spark of interest about it. There are moments where I just drift off for fifteen minutes to think about ideas, or recreate the whole story in my head. Maybe that's not enough to keep trying, or to write this post, but I've been debating this for months, and it can't really hurt, right?

I need help: people to bug me about what I've accomplished in a week, to offer to proofread stuff, to post opinions about what worked and didn't in the last ones, or just to suggest things that helped them get out of writing ruts in the past. I don't know what I really need, but I'd appreciate anything. If it sounds like I'm whining or begging, I probably am, and you're free to just ignore me. I'm not on the verge of some meltdown, but it keeps bugging me, and this a better alternative to just beating myself up about not getting things done every other week.

Probably nothing will really come of any of this (and who really wants a sequel to some story they probably don't remember from 4 years ago), but I want to try. So, feel free to send me a PM, or just put a comment oh here, and we'll see how things go.

I agree with Cyb3rSamurai on what to do. I really likes the stories, and I hope that you continue. Just remember not to force it.

Oh man I forgot about how much I liked that story

Time to read it again

Hay flash, welcome back. so having trouble writing? Your not alone in the boat, I have the same issue as well. my solution, Create a situation where you need to write as much as you can just before something major, then proofread and edit after you return. that's helped me get close to finishing my next chapter which has been about a month and a half late for release now.:facehoof:

anyway hope this Idea helps. also I look forward to seeing whether you choose to revive 'a future worth saving' or not.

Fleeting Light and Glimmer of Hope are two very interesting works of pony horror, and are part of my 'mandatory Nightmare Night-time reading list'. Saying that hearing you are working on another installment is exciting may be something of an understatement.

I can proof most technical stuff and have done editor work at various levels of abstraction with R5h and Nicktendonick (among a few others), mostly via GDocs—shoot me a PM if you want a hand. In any case, I wish you well!

Shut down the editor voice nagging in your brain.
Everything can be beaten back into proper shape afterwards, but you have to let yourself write, even if what you're writing doesn't meet your standards. That can come later.

and who really wants a sequel to some story they probably don't remember from 4 years ago

I know I do.
Those two stories are a great example to follow when it comes to atmospheric horror.
I'd love to help proofread, edit, or anything else that you may need.

Yay!! More mental degradation for the hand of Ilos!!!!!

Praise Him....for he seeks our minds.......he seeks our sanity, children of the rotted brain and the unstable mind.

Jump into his maw of razors and come out a cupcake with delicious red frosting!!!

:D I support you however I can!

It's not unusual for me to find typos even after other editors have gone through, so I could help with that. I'm jot great at other aspects of editing though.

The next chapter should reveal that it was Princess Flurry Heart all along.

From now on at the end of the week until one of us dies, I am sending a PM asking for a progress report.

You will be graded on a scale of A to a slightly lower A, there will be end of course exams, and you will have to wear a backpack until the sequel is finished.

I definitely have had a problem editing while writing in the past, but I continue to make an effort to avoid it. I'm considering writing in white font so that I can't see what I've written, or finding some way to remove my backspace key. In reality, I just need to gain a little more self-control.

Feel free to let me know if you think anything didn't work out too well from your point of view.

I will definitely keep you in mind. I've been keeping most of what I've written in a source document, with links to different entries. However, it has some plot information in there too, so if you don't want spoilers I can probably make a new one.

I'd definitely appreciate it. It makes me feel a little more accountable than I already do.

Yeah, I doubt you're going to find any shortage of people looking forward to another sequel. You're first two are among the most highly-rated horror stories on entire site, after all.

Cause no one else changed their stuff to the tag once it got added <.<

Hap

This was one of the more memorable stories I've read. Still have no clue what's really going on, though. I suppose that's why it's a mystery.

I'd love to read a sequel.

These stories were a fresh new genre of horror/suspense that I haven't seen done so well anywhere else. The inclusion of hidden messages that add insight to an already inconclusive story really was what made the stories go from "pretty good" to "great." It's the same reason the FNaF series was so successful; most of it is left for the audience to figure out. My suggestion is to leave the story vague like the other two, and to have the final pieces to the puzzle hidden and encoded like on Glimmer of Hope. Make your readers work for the answer. Extra points if you make it a sort of pseudo scavenger hunt across the internet to piece the story together. An open ending is almost a must.

As for the writing rut, set aside time specifically for writing this story. Even if you aren't feeling it, write something. You can always go back and change it. Write out a concrete outline, work in bits and pieces as you get ideas. I'm notorious for leaving stories for dead, but I'd hate for yours to go unresolved when it's come this far.

Honestly I think about "Fleeting Light" regularly. It's still one of my favorite pony fanfictions of all time.
I don't know how much of a help I could be, but I hope you figure something out! I'd love to see more stories.
