IDW Comics: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #43! (SPOILERS) · 6:57am Jun 16th, 2016

What's this? A wild story arc appeared!

Gonna be reallllllly lazy about this review and won't point out the million or so in-jokes, shout-outs, and fourth wall gags.

On the way home from an adventure, the Mane Six come across a newly-formed natural hot spring, and decide to take a break to soak in the waters. The hot spring isn't remotely normal, and the next day, all six of them have changed in very Discord-ish ways:

- Rainbow Dash has become an even more reckless showboat than usual, rainbooming all over the place.
- Applejack has become an obsessed businesspony who cares more about apples and profit than ponies.
- Twilight Sparkle appoints herself Empress of Ponyville by way of a giant, loud projection that looms over the entire town.
- Rarity becomes Dr. Doom.
- And we don't even get to see what Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie are up to yet, which is ominous...

Only Spike, who didn't take a dip in the spring, is unaffected, and it's up to him and the Cutie Mark Crusaders to save Ponyville from the Sinister Six. But they can't do it alone, so Spike writes to Canterlot for help. Celestia decides to send Luna to investigate and resolve this crisis.

Luna arrives just in time to protect the Crusaders and Spike from a rampaging Applejack, and discovers that whatever magic has corrupted her, it's too strong for her to break. The problem being much worse than initially expected, Luna sends the Crusaders into the Everfree Forest to fetch Zecora while she and Spike try to contain the damage the Sinister Six are doing to Ponyville. The Crusaders trot off into the forest...

...where we find out exactly what happened to Fluttershy, who is now the Mistress of the Forest and has an army of menacing forest animals at her beck and call.

And on the very last page of the comic, we see Pinkie blatantly ripping off Jack Nicholson's Joker from Tim Burton's Batman.

This one's worth a read, absolutely, and I'm looking forward to the next issue.

...this sounds like fun.

I am legitimately scared seeing the girls like this. They're worse than when Discord turned them into polar opposites of themselves. Now they're all parodying DC or Marvel villains like Rainbow as Reverse Flash or Zoom, Rarity as Dr. Doom, Fluttershy as Poison Ivy animal version, Pinkie as the Joker which is really chilling, even Applejack has become Lex Luthor, though some fans are also comparing her to Trump.

Gee. Odd how she didn't bother checking out the Springs Of Shmuckbait. It was if she developed a sudden case of pink hat and big buck teeth and asked "What could possibly go wrong?"

And on the very last page of the comic, we see Pinkie blatantly ripping off Jack Nicholson's Joker from Tim Burton's Batman.

And you know what? The idea of Pinkie Pie becoming the Joker is absolutely terrifying. Already Joker himself is really frickin' scary, so the idea of that madness in the form of a pony for whom logic is a little voice in the back of her head and physics are but a mere suggestion, *shudders*
