I've entered Estee's Swift Selections contest, having picked the Crossover genre, and am currently working on my idea for it. The nature of the crossover should come as no surprise—they can't all be superhero origin stories—but I'm not sure which of two potential cover images will work better. Thus, I'm asking for an outside opinion. Which of the following do you prefer?

Number 1:

Number 2:

Feel free to suggest adjustments. I threw these together in matter of minutes; tweaking them won't be a problem.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I've decided to go with number one.

I like number 1 more.

I like the first ones symmetry, but its hard to tell without knowing the story concept. Perhaps you could add a description?

I think that's sorta the point, to pick a story based on Cover Art and what we know about FOME.

Or just pick the cover art for the story.

First one seems to be a fusion of Colorless Mana Symbol and Twilight's Starlight's Cutie Mark

Second one is a hollowed variant on Starlight Glimmer's Mark... What the hollowing could mean, I dunno. Oh! It's 'cause colorless mana is that curvy diamondy shape.

Second one is replacing the star of Starlight's Mark with a pink Colorless Mana Symbol.

Nevermind these:

Hmm... EQG!Twilight and Glimmer play MtG? Nah. Too easy and not much plot there? ... Could exposit via chatter though...

Prompt is: I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream.

Nightmare = Midnight Sparkle? Daydream... ... What's the designation for Sunset's angel form again? *searching* ... Yes! It's Daydream Shimmer!

... Midnight cosplaying as Daydream or something??

********************

I'll pick 1. 'Cause I think it looks more involved than just Glimmer's hollowed out Mark. But the symbolism there is pretty awesome, just hard to figure out without knowing what colorless mana looks like.

I vote for image 2.

Numbah 1.

1 jumps out more
so one.

Number 1 appeals to me more aesthetics wise, but considering what I know of you 2 is probably more accurate story wise.

The first art looks cooler, but I'm not sure I like the implications. #2 it is!

No clue. Go with what fits your story best. Whatever it is that you're writing.

Listen to your heart, my good FOME.

Number 2, but with a micheal bay explosion filling the background.

I'm gonna go with #1

4019491 "I'm not sure I like the implications" is why I think FOME should go with 1.

Twilight Sparkle of the neutral mana? This is a little out there, but if you're going in the direction I think you're going may I suggest you consider Cosmic Mana?

In order to ensure you're working only off of ambiguity and not misinformation, I feel I should remind you that that's the star from Starlight's cutie mark, not Twilight's. Four points per star rather than six.

I cast my vote for #1

The edges are more defined and you get a better impression of the overall symbol.

Personally, I vote for number one, as it is more of a, how shall I say, "seal" that is easily recognizable (I have no idea). Also, I like the tag. Y'know, if I would I have known about this contest, I would have totally joined, I need some sort of reason to write other stories.

In that case, I'm revising my vote to #1.

What's behind door number three?

(Disclaimer: Story will not actually contain a new car.)

Fixed. Glad I could clarify matters.

(That said, I did consider something involving Daydream Shimmer, but I opted for Crossover rather than Equestria Girls.)

I fully expect the story resulting from this to involve Ashiok.

Number One!
Because it looks more like a mana-symbol than Number Two.

How about combining them, with the symbol from the first picture in place of the diamond in the second?

Appropriate as Agender McHalfface would be for this prompt, ze won't be getting involved.

4021108
Well, then I'd just be sticking something behind the star portion of Starlight's cutie mark. :applejackunsure:

This might make it a little too obvious, but what about putting a grey circle-with-drop-shadow under the Eldrazi star of the second image?

4021529
And would that be a problem? Absent more info, it's hard to spot any issues with that idea which the current pictures can't also be accused of.

If it were restricted to just the two original options, I'd probably go with the first picture, since I think the pattern wins out over the palette. However, I'd still prefer if it were accompanied by some extra color somewhere.
