EPIC FAIL!!! · 11:42am Jun 11th, 2016
This week I've been thinking about giant snakes for a story, and so true to my nature I've been studying them to get points of reference. If you had a domesticated, 120 foot, 60 tone snake, and no modern technology; how much would you feed it? How big of an enclosure would you need? How would you heat the enclosure? How would you enter the enclosure to safely clean it, or remove a shed snakeskin?
Are all fun questions to ask that will put your creativity to the test. After a few days of this I decided to look up the basalisk from Harry Potter to see if JK Rowling had already run similar details meaning I didn't have to re-invent the wheel.
A basalisk... is hatched from a chicken egg that was incubated by a toad.
Rooster crows are lethal to it, therefore it fears roosters.
It's gaze kills you instantly,
and one that's 50 feet can live off rats living in Hogwart's pipes... yet instead of swallowing them whole like any other snake, somehow picks the meat off the bones whole leaving the skeleton intact?
Epic Fail JK Rowlings. Epic Fail.
