Ash vs. The End of the End

I feel the need to speak about how differently the key events of Season 9 would play out in the Order-naries 'verse, but at the same time I don't feel up to making a proper story out of it. I'm going to split the difference with this blog, outlining what would happen without giving too much detail.

    And the magic goes on...

What a way to end the series. From a story-crafting standpoint, I have some complaints about how the final two-parter got rolling, and the resolution isn't how I'd have handled it.
The overall execution, however, and especially the final final episode, were wonderful.

    Still can't help myself.

I promised I'd focus on Pumahara after I finished Storm-chased, and I honestly have tried to get the next chapter done, but my silly, silly brain just can't leave the Order-naries 'verse slot on my WIP list empty for very long.

    Storm-chased complete and changed

I put up the last chapter of Order-naries: Storm-chased a couple days ago. After looking at it, though, I found myself dissatisfied with the last couple paragraphs, so I've gone back and replaced them with a new, better-paced scene. One that I think works better for Ash and Rarity meeting the dust has mostly settled.

A Newcomer's Guide to CTVulpin's Fics · 2:41pm Jun 4th, 2016

Hello, fellow pony fan. I’m CTVulpin, and if this is the first time you’ve stumbled upon one of my stories, I want to say, first of all, thank you for considering reading it. But second of all, a fair warning: a lot of my stories belong to a single extended narrative universe, and it’s not a perfectly straight line through all of them. Reading from the beginning is highly recommended in order to understand references and jokes in later stories, but I should point out that the first few entries are a bit rougher than the newer stories. Because I have (at this moment) nine stories set in the same universe, and they’re not all directly connected to each other, I’ll try to map things out for you.

I actually have two major narrative universes among my fics: the Order-naries ‘verse and the Aitran ‘verse. The Aitran ‘verse is simple and currently consists of three fics: Aitran, Sohndar, and Naborale (in progress). The Aitran ‘verse is a crossover series with Myst, essentially adapting the Myst computer games for an MLP setting and giving my own twists on the lore of Myst.
The Order-naries ‘verse is the big, complicated one, spanning thirteen stories so far and with no definite end in sight yet. The ‘verse’s name comes from the OCs who figure prominently in seven of the stories and whose presence is felt in the remainder. In fact, the Order-naries ‘verse can be split into three sub-categories: the seven main Order-naries stories, five “side stories,” or Trixie Tales because the Great and Powerful Trixie is a major character in all of them, and a recently started "new generation" series called Fourth Harmony.

The timeline, and recommended reading order, of the Order-naries ‘verse is as follows:
Order-naries
Order-naries: Z’Nai
Order-naries: Vacation
Of Two Minds (Trixie Tale)
Multi-mental in Manehatten (Trixie Tale)
Summer Sun, Dawning Chaos
The Canterlot Tales (Trixie Tale)
Order-naries: Redux
A Pony’s Heart (Trixie Tale)
Trials of a Changeling Queen(Trixie Tale)
Beyond the Bounds of Universes
Order-naries: Storm-chased
Fourth Harmony: Induction(Beginning of a new generation)

The sub-series can be read independent of each other, if so desired. The Order-naries stories hardly suffer from skipping over the Trixie Tales, although some things about the supporting cast Trixie picks up will come as a shock. Likewise, Trixie’s character at the start of her sub-series will make a little more sense if you’ve at least read the first Order-naries story beforehand. Fourth Harmony draws a lot from the earlier fics for its history, but I am endeavoring to make it as accessible as possible without needing to read the whole series leading up to it.
From SS,DC on, the two sub-series are more closely related. A Pony’s Heart, in particular, starts from a point partway through Order-naries: Redux before heading off in its own direction.
Finally, some notes on the Order-naries ‘verse’s relation to canon. The stories generally take place “inter-Seasonally.” In most cases, and unless otherwise noted, the major events of the show are assumed to have occurred without significant alteration, and the Order-naries had no noteworthy roles in things like “Return of Harmony” or the Canterlot Wedding Changeling invasion. The biggest exception to this rule is Trixie’s character arc, since Order-naries includes a “Magic Duel”-esque episode and it results in a very different life path for Trixie.
Order-naries through Of Two Minds occur between Season 1 and Season 2, Multi-mental, SS,DC, and The Canterlot Tales occur some time between “Return of Harmony” and “Magical Mystery Cure,” and Redux and A Pony’s Heart are post-Season 3 and pre-Season 4.
The time span between major events is a lot larger in the Order-naries ‘verse than it seems to be in canon. While perhaps only a couple years have passed in Equestria since the show began, my narrative universe has had about three years go by since the end of Season 1, and as of A Pony’s Heart we still haven’t reached the start of Season 4’s major events.

I appreciate new comments and feedback on my older stories, but please keep a few things in mind:
1) The first few Order-naries stories are the product of a younger version of me who was not as developed in writing skills.
2) When I wrote Order-naries and Z'Nai, my OCs had just undergone a major behind-the-scenes change in history and personalities and they still had some vestiges of their old character identities.
3) I don't mind fixing typos, inserting forgotten words, or clarifying small points of confusion, but I have no interest in completely overhauling my old stories for grammar and whatnot. This is fan-fiction, not for-profit writing, and I'd like to keep my old fics essentially as they are as a testament to how I've improved over the years.
