    Remember Obscure Spike Shippings?

Remember when obscure Spike shippings that were met with middling reviews and a lot of confused interest popped out of this account like every few months?

    Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Remember Spike stories that felt like they could have an entire pop-punk album written based on them?

Crystal Affair Poll · 4:00pm Jun 2nd, 2016

Hey guys!

So, before work, I decided to host a poll of sorts! For those of you keeping up with Crystal Affair, I'd like to see what you guys think is going to happen next! As you know, this story has taken a lot of twists and turns over its lifespan, and more are on the way. So, in light of that, pick one of the options below to see if you can figure out where this story is heading! :pinkiehappy:

A. Cadance and Spike are under influence from a God and everything is a lie.
B. Shining and Rarity actually did cheat and their dishonor is starting to unravel the power of love in the Crystal Empire.
C. Changelings (you never know these days)
D. Post your own thoughts!

I won't give spoilers of course, but this could be a fun discussion!

Keep rockin'!

B. A thousand time B.

B if you please and a side order of Spike x Cadence and for dessert they dump the bitch whore and Rarity.

E. Spike is tripping balls on some cookies Pinkie gave him.

B

Any other answer is pointless, you don't write this much in order to write it all off as a mistake or hallucination.

Besides, lets see some more real drama.

D. Shining and Rarity really did cheat, because they were the ones who were under the influence of a god.

"D. Shining Armor and Rarity, both saw that Spike and Cadence had a lot larger life span than the two of them and they bonded over it, in both having a moment of weakness realize how close they could get, but neither wanted to push their spouse away, and it just started eating away at them
Incense both Rarity and shining armor with fans of seeing fairy tale endings they wanted Spike and Cadence to find each other themselves

Even though I'm probably wrong, B.

No to the changelings but if you combined A and B you'd have a great story to tell.

really want to say b, but i'd go with a

3993081 I like the way you think.

3992236
3992239
3992272
3992273
3992283
3992284
3992395
3992436
3992491
3992588
3992909
3992970
3993046
3993211

Or maybe Cadance is using love magic to lure everyone into a sense of horrid disarray, in which she will then take over the world with Spike at her side and rule the cosmos with an iron hoof!

Or not ...

3993308 thank you very much,

3993081 I kinda hope this is the answer.

3993322 I hope this might be possible how about all of the above?

3993322 And spawn many, many alicorn-dragon hybrids.

3993322 ... Maybe Cadance is tripping on cookies?

D. Shining and Rarity really did cheat, thanks to the influence of the god. Afterwards they will realize that they really love each other and this will lead to Spike X Cadence.

D. :twilightoops: I would have both Cadence and Spike kiss in front of both Rarity and Shining Armor and have them realize that they were in love with each other the whole time. :rainbowhuh: Then afterwards, have them get married (1 year to be Exact) and kiss while generating  TRUE LOVE  throughout the Crystal Empire. Oh, and have some drama with the 2 Marshmallow-Colored Unicorns and the new couple to make the story complete. :yay:

I say, it's a, but for everyone. Someone is manipulating Cadence and everyone to cause sadness.

3993322
You've come this far in constructing the story.

Why the hell would you want to throw it all away as "magic or drugs did it".

I hope it's B

You know, I don't like any of those options. I hope it's D, aka None of the Above

3994283 What do you wanna see happen?

Bbbbbbbb cause honestly that's where I thought the story was going

3994335 I guess I'll have to read to find out. :derpytongue2:

B - Because I came for Spike/Cadence shipping and I will leave with Spike/Cadence shipping.

Anyway, wasn't the B option the general direction of the story, or are you guys getting bored?

3994372 This story was built to be a mystery since the beginning. The idea was to paint something controversial, then unravel it as the story went on.

3994375
Lore wise, the idea that the entire power of the Crystal Empire unraveling because of infidelty is...

DELICOUS

B

The problem is that Famous is a huge fan of Sparity, so I can't judge if he would actually write a story where Rarity cheats on Spike... :unsuresweetie:

Never read this story before. Hell, I don't even think I've spoken to you before. But by happenstance, I came across this entry, and concluded it would be criminally negligent to not share some critical thoughts for creative purposes... least you end up doing something egregiously stupid with your story.

So a while back, I came across a mystery written by Oroboro called The Heart of an Author (that reminds me, I still need to leave a several thousand word comment on that story about how good it is) that relied heavily upon the motif of Ronald Knox's Ten Commandments of Detective Fiiction. And while truth be told aren't the final word on detective fiction, still stand as a helpful guideline to avoid committing an offense against logical deductive reasoning. I bring this up because options A and C are in direction violation of Knox's commandments.

Option A and having everything be the machinations of some string-pulling deity is not permissible because of the 2nd Commandment ("All supernatural or preternatural agencies are ruled out as a matter of course."), as it takes the mystery out of the story and chalks all the events up to some magical macguffin that was arbitrarily hidden from the reader... or at least I'm assuming you've never alluded to any intervening deity, which would be in defiance of the 1st Commandment. ("The criminal must be someone mentioned in the early part of the story, but must not be anyone whose thoughts the reader has been allowed to follow.")

Option C of making changelings the culprit is a blatant offense against the 5th Commandment ("No Chinaman must figure into the story." (By "Chinaman," Knox was referring to a somewhat racist stereotype of writing in his time of the criminal being a foreigner, denying the reader of a true suspect.)) and the 10th Commandment ("Twin brothers, and doubles generally, must not appear unless we have been duly prepared for them.") And without going on too much of a tangent, the travesty that was/is 'A Canterlot Wedding' is guilty of these iniquities, because the villain(s) turned out to be an entire species of parasitic bug ponies (5th Commandment violation) that just so happen to have the ability to shape-shift (10th Commandment violation). It also broke Commandments I, II, III, and VI, because 'A Canterlot Wedding' was/is a piece of shit.

So just by process of elimination, the only viable option left is B, unless you can come up with some other resolution that ties everything neatly together... and not blindsiding your audience like Meghack McCarthy would, who is under the delusion that she's a clever writer for coming up with twists that are impossible to see coming because no one in the aforementioned audience could win the game of 'guess what I'm about to pull out of my ass'.

Anyway, I hod my overbearing and verbose exposition helped you learn something today. And whatever resolution you ultimately employ to conclude your story, just make sure that, as previously stated, it's a logical one that cohesively fits into the narrative/character motivations, and ties all the stray plot threads together. And make sure to have a competent editor to act as the Yin to the writing Yang. Do this, and you'll greatly decrease you chances of writing some insipid, regurgitated tripe where the protagonists are out-off-character morons who have to keep relearning virtues they should already know to activate the dues ex machina to indolently wrap up the story.

Unlike Meghack McCarthy.

3993322 And this is a direct violation of the 7th Commandment.

- Christian 'Elementary' Harisay

4005551 Now we've spoken!

Thanks for the insight, bro!

Ima go with A. Also, funny pic.

4011495 You're welcome.

That reminds me, I should probably check out If Only I had TIme. I listened to Among The Herd's great song for it. Tried to see if I could get him to show me how to record music too, seeing as how I have plans to do something similar, but nothing ever came of it.

Did you pay for that on commission, or how did that work?

- Christian 'Indefinitely Unkown' Harisay

4027681 Well, to get the song, I sent him a private message through google plus or youtube's messaging service I believe and told him the idea for a fic I had and asked if he'd be interested in doing something for it.

He said it sounded awesome, we worked on it off and on and 9 months later we had a song! It took time to hash out all the details, but it was so worth it.
