    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    TEvergreen Falls

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

Hey! Thanks CGP Gray, now my readers can have some science! · 3:16pm May 31st, 2016

Amazingly, CGP Gray released a video this morning I can use to explain to all of you exactly what Lyra's VI is in terms of the science :pinkiegasp: But you WILL need to watch the video first. Don't worry this is only 5 minutes and is REALY cool

Got that? Okay, an integrated VI is simply the right brain, genetically modified to operate more independently from the left brain, and connected to the left with a few designer organelles which allow the right to communicate with the left and serve a few other useful functions such as allowing the brain to read/write data to DNA (Yes, that can be done). Science, fuck yeah!

In short: An integrated VI is a gene mod which allows an otherwise mute constant companion a voice, uniting two normally silently cooperating units into one functional team.

3986411 No problem! I always try to base my sci-fi firmly in science, but it's hard to find good ways to explain the science to people who don't read sci journals for fun >>

3986454 Seeing as how I jut communicated to you by transforming my finger wiggles into beams of light which were sent around the world and assembled into words fr you to see and comprehend whenever you so wish... Science IS magic :P

interesting, also explains some of my personal quirks if I truly am right brain dominant. for example I don't automatically respond with words when asked a question or given instructions, I'll first point or offer some appropriate gesture well before realizing they're expecting a verbal response. this annoys some people I work with to a great degree. also if the video is to go by, both sides can have reading comprehension. this explains why when I read the words stop being words entirely and I end up in a dream-scape playing out the story without ever realizing that I'm looking at something.

3986479 I do that a lot too, which makes sense. If for any reason one hemisphere can't do something, the other is supposed to take over that function. So you know, if the left's socialbullshitdoer.exe isn't working the right side is free to point and grunt until they go away and let you read ><

Geez.....and I thought quantum stuff was awesome!!:rainbowderp:

3986470 Imagine someone as bada** as that!!:rainbowderp:

Always love inserting science in writing. Tried to do the same with Quantum Mechanics several times, but… well, even I can only make things so entertaining (and my test audience had no idea what was happening).

~ Chapter: 13

how very creepy...

But I do like your V.I. explanation, and with the tech we have today, I wonder how long it will be until someone can invent something similar.

3986711 Quantum Physics and Neurobiology are quite possibly the two most fascinating sciences at present.

3986739 Yeah, QM is only barely understood by the experts... it's perhaps a bit much to ask the layman to get it too.

3986759 Serious estimation: 20 years. Assuming human gene editing was legalized by some country right now, of course. Though I did hear that England allowed it. Fucking finally!

We've only been sitting on the technology to eliminate certain diseases and birth defects from subsequent generations of humans for ten years now...

3986782 I should be alive for the next twenty years, so, here's to hoping:twilightsmile:

I think people are just afraid that some geneticist will make zombies intentionally, amiright?

3986917 Nah, if it was rational like that a simple "Here is why that is impossible." would work. This is about the irrational stupid that religious spawn like the zerg spawn zerglings. The notion that there is a way the universe is supposed to be and that changing that way is not premissable, even when doing so would greatly benefit us all. I would honestly have no problem with RL religion if it were not for it's insistence that the entire world conform to it's whims... and the fact that most people bow to that demand and join it...

Example, if not for religion's HOW DARE YOU PLAY GOD! we would have stem packs IRL by now. What's that? Cut your leg? Here you go *poke, flesh knits back together in meer hours* all healed up!"

3986929 look at the bright side though, while religious people kill each other they don't have the means to survive as long:pinkiecrazy:
I think most wars have to do with religion at least :/

Can we just use a teleporty device to go to your au yet?

3987011 Well if you wanted to get away from religion... While Equestria is a largely secular nation, there are religious people in the world. It's just that you know, they are correct and the faith is evidence based.

3987014 well, in that case, It'd be no problem to me.

3987044 Also you know, 99% of deities dont give a shit what mortals do :P in my AU religion is less like it is here, and more like a scientific theroy, with the religious basicaly attempting to apply that theroy in a usefull manner.

3987049 yeah, I don't really give a shit what a frog does :P

religious theory...
I like the sound of that.

3986773 Yeah, but it's a shame. The implications of this science is almost magic-like! Hense why I try to incorporate the two. Like, having Twilight superposition herself.

~ Chapter: 13

3987123 Some of them go like this, "Right,so there's a god of music, and she likes a few different generas. What we do is we play those generas of music while preforming important tasks, to see if she helps us out."

3987124 Science, the more we learn, the more we should just call scientists Wizards.

3987127 Do not steal my title, peasant! I'll smite thee quicker then you can say, "Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle!"

~ Chapter: 13

3987146 "That didn't work... I guess we should try insulting her mum." "This seems unwise..."

3987156 but what if the mum is the mum of insults? D:

That was awesome to learn about. Funny thing I had always wondered about the possibilities of two brains for a while... But that was over the rate of conscious and subconscious... So, now i am wondering if there isn't more to it if you can create two separate brains, one logical, one, well less so, and still have a fully intact subconscious.

Also have wondered how things works for those with split personalities as well.

Anyways, thanks for the share, Meep.

3987249 I think that starts a rap battle with your soul at steak.

3987278 yeah.. I'm good without that..
I couldn't rap even if meh cookies were at steak:ajsleepy:

3987284 Sure you can! Just rhyme random things and speak in one of three simple rythems and make sure you say something like "I'm king of ape shit mountain! Fuck you authority!"

3987286 oh, that seems simplish :D

3986479 For that, I can understand, I do the same often when I read. The thing about the brain is there are two portions of the brain dedicated to reading, but one is set specifically for languages cause it is tied to it. ((In other words, this other side of the brain for reading is supposed to be set for being capable of reading something other than your natural language, like if we Americans usually use English [Whether proper or not] when we begin to learn, say Spanish, or Japanese, Korean, etc, then that part of the brain begins having growth. Which is why it becomes easier over time. Of course, children can learn this faster than adults because parts of the brain which are not used often enough I believe loses growth. And of course children are basically blank slates that are slowly filling things in. Get them to learn more, they have an increase in use of their brain and have a better chance of coming out with a better lead as an adult. So long as they have something to use, I believe. Not a scientist, of course, or a doctor, or anything like that. But still, think of exercise for the body, a muscle that isn't used, it atrophies, or loses mass and strength which must be built up again.)) While the other is set to grow with a person over the course of time as they increase vocabulary and speech... If I am remembering the few paragraphs I read from a book on human brains correctly. Also there are actually a couple of areas of the brain that have what have been seen as a reflection of basic fundamentals for interacting and functionality, because each side has a copy. At least early on when growth begins, but this changes through growth as you learn to become more dominant to one hand/brain hemisphere or the other for most humans. I don't recall it mentioning anything as being different for those humans who can use both hands. However, through my own personal curiosity and sometimes messing up my hands being smashed in car doors, you can teach yourself to be ambidextrous, but if it is at a time when you have already become dominant with one, then you are still dominant with that side of the brain.
...
I really want to get that book again and give it a more thorough read.
Well, I know my goal for this coming weekend. :D

P.S. Feed the greymatter! Create more neurons to fire off! Find your limit(s) and surpass it!

P.P.S. Magic and Science are equivalently the same if you look to the most basic of all things is energy. Everything puts out some form of energy into the universe. Science and ingenuity can create fire, heat things, freeze things, and basically change matter, molecules, atoms, etc, even our own DNA, and well... A wizard powerful enough can basically do this as well.

3987011 You don't need a teleporter. What you need is a *mumbles*.

3987803 Oh boo yourself... I've said it 5 times now. But fine, I fixed it...

3987883 A girl can't tease her friends?

3987887 :ajbemused:... You're lucky you're so adorable...

3986770 Ikr? Dey awesome do!!:rainbowkiss:
