Check this out! I gotta admit I did mistakes, and I should have been more thorough.
Alright first things first.
It's not exactly popularity contest. I understand that I should have expanded on it. Most popularity contests don't require of you to be empathetic. What does it mean to be empathetic? To understand, to be connected. When you do this you are able to just "feel" the need of your friends, the emotion. There's no need to speak it out loud at times. It also requires touch at times. It's... complicated. In any case you're right I should have delved more on it.
As for Metis ((she is the Greek Titaness of Wisdom and Cunning. First spouse of Zeus and mother of Athena)) she lived underground with her changelings and fought the miasma. However the miasma tainted their food supply and turned changeling against changeling. Basically think of it like the indocrination the reapers did. So Metis blew up the exit and collapsed the whole place to seal it underground.
The Miasma is like a demonic infection. Think croatoa from Supernatural. Everything demonic needs life to survive, it needs "love" which is life. Inspiration is a play about the starvation of Messologi denizens, a Greek city during the Turkish siege. So a hungry changeling will go all demonic and eat everything around it, destroy everything. Madness incarnate.
Chrysalis... is very complicated. She is trapped in a false cycle and she needs a way to get out. She hasn't changed... not yet. But she's willing to do something about it. And willing to try another POV.
