Another year I walk the sands
They shift and change beneath my feet
Yet through it all I walk.
Another year I see the others walk the sands
Some falter and slip beneath the sand
Others lay roads for still later others to tread
The roads vanish beneath the sands
And yet they are the sands themselves
So perhaps they never were, or still are
Some do not walk the sands like I
They slide and glide upon the expanse
They move faster, yet they fall harder than I ever have
I walk the sands for another year this day
Scorching heat and frigid rain alike
They cannot stop me
I will falter and slip beneath the sand
But not today
For today is my birthday
And that means I have beat the sands another year.
Happy birthday dude! I'm going to the basement fridge and pulling out a special root beer to celebrate, although I guess I'm a day late. My best of well wishes to you moving ahead. It's always great to hear from you.

Thanks! And at least you commented. There's enough cobwebs in the blog box it's frightening. On the upside, I'm soon to get an apartment, and then my stories shall begin anew.
Including a rewrite of ONS, but details on that will come later.
Whoa, great ideas and imagery here. I love poetry. I'll have to drop back in next May 21st and see what else you post for us!

Thank you! I literally threw this together because my birthday was passing by and I was feeling a load of ennui that day. Something to do with my little sister getting a GF before I did
