Order of the Alicorn is Now on Hiatus · 9:06am May 18th, 2016
Hey everyone. I'm gonna be shooting out a lot of stuff in this blog so bare with me here. I'm mainly going to be talking about Order of the Alicorn, but first let me talk for just a little bit about Sweetie Devil.
Last month I updated Sweetie Devil for the first time in over a year. While there were a few things that caused this long wait, the main two were my horrendous laziness, and the sheer amount of rewrites I had to do with this chapter. Seriously, there is currently a sixty page google doc in my drive that is nothing but scrapped scenes and deleted lines. I rewrote that chapter more times than I've done with anything else I've ever written.
Now thankfully, I'm happy to report that I'm making much better progress on the next chapter. As of the time of this post I'm already 40% of the way through, so hopefully there won't be such a long wait this time.
Sweetie Belle can't wait for things to continue going horribly wrong for her.
Now on to Order of the Alicorn. This story is going on Hiatus. I know this'll disappoint a lot of you, but this is something I need to do. I've been dissatisfied with this story almost from the day I uploaded it. Combine that with some of criticism I've been getting and the direction I've decided to take Sweetie Devil in, and I knew I would have to rewrite it at some point if I planned to continue it.
You see, when I first started writing Sweetie Devil and uploading to this site, I had a general premise of what I wanted the story to be like and what I wanted Sweetie to be, but I didn't know where I was going to take it. Because of this I spent the first few chapters playing around with Sweetie's character and deciding where I wanted to go. Now I did eventually sort everything out, and today I have everything planned and know how I want the story to unfold. Overall I am happy with how Sweetie Devil is going. I can't say the same thing for Order of the Alicorn.
Back when I first started writing this story, I remember the main reason I wrote it was because I wanted to get Twilight and her friends out of Ponyville so Sweetie could do her own thing. There were a few other smaller reasons; I wanted to expand the world a bit, give Sweetie looming threat to worry about, but the main reason was because I want the main six out of the picture.
Surprise, surprise, that's not a very good foundation to build a story on. It led to a lot of problems because unlike Sweetie Devil where I at least had a solid premise, I had no clue what I wanted to do with Order. So we get a pretty clumsy opening chapter, and as many have pointed out, Celestia and Luna coming of as complete assholes.
Ironically, Luna is my favorite character on the show. So I guess I'm obligated to rewrite the story as an act of penance.
So yeah, I won't be updating the story any time in the near future; and when I eventually do it'll probably be with a rewritten first chapter. And when I say rewrite I mean a massive rewrite. Save for a handful of scenes and events, there probably won't be that much similar between the current version and the new. I'm not going to start this until I have everything worked out so it'll happen some time down the road. For now, I will tell you the few things that are for certain.
1. Once I start this rewrite it'll coincide with some smaller scale rewriting of the earlier chapters in Sweetie Devil. This'll mainly be to line up the continuity these two stories share. (though I may go a bit farther with chapter 2). Which brings me too...
2. This rewrite will change a few things with the world and the Order. I'm definitely going to rewrite Luna's character as well as Celestia's. Try to make them come off a bit less like assholes. And finally...
3. Octavia, is going to be the protagonist.
That's all I have for now. I hope this doesn't disappoint you all too badly, and if does then feel free to call me a cunt in the comment section. I won't take it personally.

I liked the story as a good, dark alicorn Twilight adventure story, so the news of the main character switching to Octavia is disappointing. I'll still give it a shot after you start rewriting it.
