Typervader Interviews: Flint-Lock · 12:30am May 18th, 2016
Hello Flint-Lock. You won from my random number generator for an interview! This is my first interview as a admin, so lets get down to it. I want this to be a more casual in order to not get a tense feeling. I will also do a set of questions that fit well with each other. Alright, so without farther delay, lets get into this interview!
First Questions: How did you get into MLP:FIM and how did you come to find out about this site? What made you want to become an author?
I used to go on deviantART a lot- actually used to have a profile on it. I'd post short stories, look at art, y'know, usual stuff. While I was there, I noticed that, for whatever reason, there was a lot of My Little Pony fan art. Not just the typical stuff from women who'd grown up with the show, either; these were people my age. Guys my age.
Curious--and more than a little confused--I contacted a brony artist on my friends list and asked him a simple question:
are you a man, or a slaveWhy did he like it so much? His answer was the usual one: great animation, great writing, morals with actual subtlety, that kind of stuff. He then gave me a link to the first episode. I watched it. To my surprise--and horror--I liked it. FimFic came a little later. As for why I wanted to become an author, well, I guess it's because I like to write. I like being creative, and I like creating new worlds, new characters.

So you learned about ponies after you wrote stories and art. Kinda like how I found out about it though youtube, you just get curios. Curiosity kills the virginity.
Alright then, 2nd set.
What do you like to write about ? What do you avoid? What style do you like to use in your works?
3952573 Mind if I come back tomorrow/
3952588 Of course. I will leave this blog post for whenever you are ready. I have a ton of free time and check quite a bit, so whatever works for you!

What do I like to write about? Well, I really like to write about characters. I like writing emotional fics, ones that really delve into the thoughts and feelings of its characters. Why? Because it makes me feel like an actual writer, not some hack. That's probably the reason why I haven't written any clopfics yet.

Alright then. Writing about characters is neat! I love deep emotional fics that go into characters! That's also hard to do. What genres are your favorite and which ones do you not like to write? Which are easier for you do to and what styles do you use in the writing, such as rhymes, alteration, or metaphors?

I personally like writing serious drama or slice-of-life fics. They really let me get into a character's head, let me dig up their inner thoughts and feelings. As for what I don't like to write, well, I'm not too comfortable writing clopfics, I think that crossovers are usually creatively bankrupt, and writing in second person just feels wrong to me.
In my writing, I like to use a lot of analogies, for example, I might compare a characters' feelings to a raging storm, or compare the moon to a shining silver coin. It makes things more evocative, more imaginative. At least, that's what I tell myself.
3957417 So you like to try to get into your characters, I love that idea. Making people care about them is important. Analogies, you can never go wrong with them. They always work, as they never hurt,
Ok then, lets see. Is there anything you hate to see authors do? What would you tell them to improve themselves. And, what made you want to write about deep characters so much?
3957576
Well, I really hate it when authors portray humans as collectively greedy, selfish, and overall evil. Not only is it hypocritical, but it's a pretty big insult to their audience. My advice to them: don't paint humanity with such a large brush.
3960911 Alright, I think this is a good place to end our interview. Thanks again for allowing me to do this! Until next time
