First off, the multiplayer was trash.
Please be patient and resist your impulse buying, folks.
There is no reason Bethesda wants to deny access to the campaign a few days early to reviewers unless they didn't want to risk mediocre 6's and 7's getting out into the wild before Friday.
They're counting on people recklessly buying Day 1.
Looks like I'm waiting, and if I have to wait long enough, I'll rely on metacritic's user score, and that's the harshest mistress of all.
Still, from what we've seen, looks pretty good.
So once again we're basing the WHOLE GAME..... off Multiplayer...... okay.

In fifteen minute chunks.
Is it fun for an hour? Two hours? Five?
How about twenty? How about the higher difficulties?
These are the questions I want answered before I shell out $60.

More often it's bad news when publishers hold their review copies until launch.
I'm not judging the campaign yet. But I'm also not risking $60 without hands-on impressions from journalists I've come to trust. I'm not made of money.

3934222 You.... also realize it's DOOM right? Like.... literally the campaign is DESIGNED for fun and blowing shit up. I won't defend multiplayer and TBH I never really care for Multiplayer on consoles that much unless it's offline co-op. But this series? Doom? Has ALWAYS had a good campaign with the various enemies and weapons and such.

3934228 I'm not sure what you want to hear from me. Yes. I know it's Doom. I saw the amazing reveal at E3 last year, and all footage released since.
But the fact that Bethesda is making reviewers wait until launch, when the main draw of Doom is offline single player demon destroying, is making me rather nervous.
So I'll be looking at Metacritic and Steam for hands-on user reviews.
Honestly, the beta sucked. It had severe balance issues IMO. I was really interested until I played it. Kind of ruined my thoughts on it, but I'm still trying to wash out the bitter taste of preordering Halo 5 and Division.

Too many 'meh' or subpar releases have left me kind of jaded lately.
3934322 Titanfall 2 has me intrigued also. But since pre-ordering gets you so little nowadays, I think that's also the reason why.
A lot of other people need to take a page from the book of EA Access. You want to move pre-orders? Let them in three days earlier than everyone else.
Meanwhile, Fallout 4 players are still bitter at Bethesda for not fixing the Cell Reset bug or Chameleon Armor. Seriously, if they botched something as simple as fucking invisibility, I'm terrified to think how they're going to handle multiplayer.
Also, Metacritic is Satan.
To be fair to Bethesda, Shadow of Mordor did the same thing and it was amazing. Although this is a moot point since I'm not buying it either way. Not because I don't like it, I just don't have the money. I'll probably just rent it.
3934354 No, Shadow of Mordor's brand deal was different- In order to be allowed a review copy without being a big enough publication of channel that you could bully yourself out of it, reviewers had to sign a brand deal with a 3rd party promotional media company.
Parts of this brand deal explicitly forbid negative reviews, any discussion of negative features, discussion or showing of bugs or glitches, and they had to repeatedly tell their viewer base to purchase the game.
That's an untrustworthy as fuck track record to compare it to.

If it's anything like doom 3 (before they remade it with flashlight on all the time), quake 4 then I'll be good with campaign as it was in the same leagues of scary and polished as the first and second F.E.A.R. series was.

3934254 Well, I got and played the game for a bit this morning.
Show of hands, did anyone here like Wolfenstein: The New Order? Yes? Good.
The DOOM reboot is just as damn fun as that. Combat is fast, acrobatic and gory, the weapons and their mods are awesome, and the demons are wicked in design both in awesome looks AND tactics.
So yeah, I give it the seal of approval.
3937076 It's better than Doom 3. If you go into this game slowly and creeping looking for baddies, then you will die. Hit'em fast and hit'em hard, don't slow down and constantly jump, climb and strafe your way to victory.
