This is a low flying panic attack. · 6:27am May 4th, 2016

Many things happened today.

You probably saw some of them on the news.

This is one you probably did not see. Radiohead, a band that music nerds of my age and disposition tend to obsess over- I am fully guilty here myself- released the first single today for their next album, their first in five years.

It is a very good song, in a very Radiohead way. Not a masterpiece, but in a way about as "Radiohead" as a song can get. That is it has all of their obsessions wrapped inside of it, their musical obsessions, their thematic obsessions their lyrical obsessions.

It also feels ( like so much of Radiohead does) like an excellent reaction to our time and place and our present situation.

To some of those things, that you saw, on the news tonight.

Lyrics:

Stay in the shadows
Cheer the gallows
This is a roundup
This is a low flying panic attack
Sing the song on the jukebox that goes:
Burn the witch
Burn the witch
We know where you live
Red crosses on wooden doors
If you float you burn
Loose talk around tables
Abandon all reason
Avoid all eye contact
Do not react
Shoot the messengers
This is a low flying panic attack
Sing a song of sixpence that goes:
Burn the witch
Burn the witch
We know where you live
We know where you live

On a less serious note, do you know who else was a goverment official dispatched to some podunk village to supervise an upcoming festival ( minus the wicker man situation of course) ? Why Twilight Sparkle in the Pilot of course you silly pony!
