    Drabble

Pegasi had a belief. It gave way to tradition, then superstition, and finally to aphorism, but it grain of truth in it persists. That you can tell all you need about someone by the sound of their wings.

Why is there no Changeling story called...

    "All Love Is Unrequited?"

Anyway, it's been a while since I made a blog post for...various life reasons. This is mostly to check in and prove that I am not actually dead. Also that I have written some 25k words of original sci-fi in a month. I am hoping I can keep this up! And give you all a story with jovial insect aliens, sassy AIs, and a mystery.

You know you've made bad life choices when... · 3:43am May 1st, 2016

The God of Terrible Beauty flirts with you.

While slow, I am still writing. Various bits and pieces are starting to cohere, even. And some turn out really well, like Ai Sul, the God of Terrible Beauty, who manifests as a graceful, shrouded figure with talon-tipped fingers and an oversized ivory-carved mask for a face, a mask that never changes expression when you're looking at it, but changes nonetheless...

You cryptic bastard.

I await the next instalment with a fangirl squee, the volume of which would shame the gods themselves.

Well, that's certainly an interesting hook.

You cryptic bastard.

What he said. I look forward to seeing what we're anticipating, though.

Hi, I noticed you don't have a "fixed" proofreader i.e. one proofreader for all your stories, so if you're writing something I'd like to volunteer as one.
I'm no editor, I just correct mistakes, so if you already have an editor, he'll probably do a better job than I will. :twilightsheepish:
But hey, even if that's the case, two head are definitely better than one, I always say
Reply any way you like if you're interested.

Sounds familiar…

I miss reading your stories.

3909482 I do have a dedicated editor, in fact! But thank you for offering.

3910319 Ai Sul is indeed influenced by Hexadecimal, but also by V (from V for Vendetta), who are of course both influenced by mister Mad, Bad, and Dangerous To Know himself, Lord Byron.

3911066 Eventually there will be more. This novel, eventually. I've been pushing around ideas for a Chrysalis-centric short taking place after Cartography's epilogue in my head (and only in my head, I gotta do this writing first!), and also a far-future-Apotheverse short. If it turns out to be worthwhile I may also do a narrative AAR of a Stellaris game once that comes out, buuuut that's probably going to be more trouble than it's worth.
