Here's our own specially re-created sign-off of the ABC affiliate in Syracuse, NY, with audio courtesy of TV-Signoffs.com. This was both created for - and is dedicated to - two known Central New Yorkers who are on FIMFiction - JMac, and Kitsune-Clemmie.
The Outlet Company at that time had recently sold WNYS (under which call sign it first signed on 9 September 1962) to a company called WNYS Acquisition Corp., which was a joint partnership of Coca Cola's New York bottling division and former Washington Post president Larry H. Israel. It then changed its call letters to WIXT.
The station was acquired by The Ackerley Group in 1982, and after numerous ownerships to undergo, is now owned by Nexstar Broadcast Group. In 2005, under Clear Channel ownership, the station adopted its current call-sign, WSYR, previously used on NBC station WSTM from its 1950 sign-on until 1980.
