Shit, I need to catch up. I've only just gotten to the Dancer, and it's about time for the spoilers to begin flooding.
Nice work and it also shows I'm way behind. I just killed Pontif Sulyvahn so I'm not sure exactly where that puts me in regards to the end of the game. It's been really awesome though. I loved the first Dark Souls but I could never get into Dark Souls 2 for some reason, it just felt way too different. This game though? It feels like playing the first one all over again and I'm loving every second of it.
Feels weird though to say that my main weapon at this time is just a +6 broadsword but it seems to get the job done. I'm honestly not sure of another weapon I like a whole lot yet (Zweihander is not the same as it was in DS1 sadly) and I have no clue how the infusing system works with the ridiculous amount of gems of various types I've picked up. Since the game has no way of undoing something (like reloading an earlier save) it really makes me not want to experiment for fear of wasting a rare gem or weapon that I can't get back.
Finished my first run as well! I used the Bastard Sword (since DS1 bby) and Shield of Want.
Now I just don't know what to do. NG+, Giantdad/some meme build, or a dex run. Hnng.
Shit, I'm still trucking with my strength build. Got my Vigor at 31, Endurance at 30, and Strength at 35, and just beat Pontiff Sullivan. I'm still using the Butcher Knife, looking for a better STR weapon.

Not that strange. My deep axe +6 carried me all the way to Aldrich. Infusions are pretty simple actually. Don't be afraid to experiment, it gets easier to get mats later.

It's the mundane build. Perfectly viable in ds2 likely to die in two to three hits from Sulyvahn in 3 I enjoyed the extra challenge and the versatility only gets more powerful as the levels stack.

Washing Pole +9 and Asthor's Spear +4 as my weapons. Exile Leggings and Helmet, and Gungir's chest and gloves. Having two weapons is awesome. And +2 Shield of Want.

Dark Souls 3 is pretty awesome, but I still prefer the first Dark Souls. The scaling on the weapons in Dark Souls 3 is lower than in the first Dark Souls. Also, I don't like that they kept the same attributes from the second Dark Souls. I don't understand why extra attributes had to be added on. Why can't Endurance be both carry weight and stamina like in the first one?!
Man, I still have yet to get past Pontiff Sulyvahn. He's so hard. I can't dodge all his attacks.

I'd recommend summoning two other phantoms for him. In his second phase he splits into more pontiffs, so I'm pretty sure this is a boss you're meant to be fighting with help anyway, kind of like Ornstein and Smough. Make sure your connection is good, though, because in my game, phantom animations were frozen in that area, and the world was frozen for me when I was a phantom. Phantoms were essentially invincible, and Sully didn't even stand a chance. I felt bad afterwards, because that was the cheapest win I'd ever had in a Souls game.
3881484 I made a vow to myself to beat all of the bosses myself (except one, which I accidently had a summon for because of PvP. I was overleved as all hell for it though) and by god did that boss make me want to break my vow. Thankfully I dodged his second phase and used firebombs (
) and throwing knives to kill the ghost thing.
But dear lord, as a DS1 souls vet, after beating Pontiff that next area made me squee in delight.

Then you're a better play than I. I haven't done a pure solo run since my first time with DS1, and there is no way in hell I'd ever consider one for 3 knowing I'd have to face that guy. I had a vow of my own to never summon help until after I got a boss to their second phase on my own first, but I broke that one with him.
And yes, Anor Londo was fucking sweet. When I first entered the Tomb of the Darkmoon, I was freaking out.
