Okay, I had a few real-life things crop up this weekend, which meant I wasn't able to do my season-two thoughts. So, those are tonight, and tomorrow will be Crystal Empire parts one and two. Sorry. Just got pretty busy. Anyway...
Thoughts on Season two
Season two... has highs and lows. It's the only season besides season four with a genuinely good premiere and finale. They also introduce Discord and Chrysalis/the changelings. Hmm, interesting coincidence... ;)
Season two expands quite a bit of Equestria, introducing new species such as minotaurs, the changeling, and technically Discord. There's some really good episodes, here. Return of Harmony parts one and two, Cutie pox, Family Appreciation Day, Hurricane Fluttershy, Baby Cakes, Canterlot Wedding Parts one and two are all stand-out episodes.
There's also some episodes that, for lack of a better term, fail to stick the landing. MMMystery on the Friendship Express being one example. Sweet and elite, or, "Striker now sides completely with the Canterlot populace against the Mane Six." Sometimes the episode, despite being good, just didn't quite finish properly.
And there's also episodes like Luna Eclipsed, and Putting your Hoof Down where the idea's good, but the execution went wrong.
Sadly, season two has some really bad episodes overall, too. Mare-Do-Well, for one, and Dragon Quest. And of course, the absolute fucking NADIR of the franchise, A Friend In Deed. Or, as I've said, "Screw you, Pinkie Pie. Screw. You."
Yeah... I may have been able to semi-like Pinkie in season one, and she did have two good episodes in Baby Cakes and Friendship Express, by the end of this season I downright hated Pinkie Pie. Luna Eclipsed, Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, and a Friend In Deed. No, I don't care what her intentions are or, "It's just Pinkie Pie!" God, I hate hearing/reading that fucking sentence.
Also, Twilight begins her descent into checklist obsession and placing her studies/tests before actually important stuff. And I don't like it. I rather hate it, actually. It flanderizes her and can be just damned annoying.
So, season two. A lot of good, but also a not-small amount of bad. Tune in tomorrow for Gassy Mane the Boring!
And then comes Season 3, which I have a sneaking suspicion is partially responsible for so many thinking Season 2 is the best season.

Season 3's bad episodes were base breaker wham episodes; Season 2's were just turds.

3913411 Honestly, beyond Pinkie and Dash mostly occupying the bottom two slots, I don't really rank them overall. Just depends on my mood/what episode I watched.
