Okay peeps and ponies... Here's my big confession...
I really don't like the CMC.
Why, you might ask? Especially given that I've devoted two chapters of Touch the Sky to their antics.
Well... I suppose I should clarify that I really don't like CMC episodes... Make no mistake, as individual characters, I think they could be great... but... Every episode they're the main characters in makes me wanna beat my head into a wall, skip the episode and move on. The only episode of theirs I actually enjoyed was The Cutie Mark Chronicles, where we learned the backstories for the Mane 6's marks... I'm pretty sure there's another one I didn't hate... but still... I'm generally wary of their episodes.
There's a great theory presented by the Brony Notion about what the CMC's cutie marks can mean for them as a group, and I really like it... It makes me feel less terrible for wanting them to have their own individual passions/marks. Here's the video if you're interested:
Add in that the Mane 6 deals with the world around ponies (interpersonal problems) much as Celestia deals with obvious things, while the CMC are supposed to be dealing with the ponies themselves (identity issues), much as we've seen Luna do for them in their dreams. There's deep symbolism there... I won't go into it here, but trust me on it.
Back to my original insanity; why I dislike the CMC episodes.
I get that they're kids... but even kids learn after one or two times of messing up to not do the same thing... So why are they in character stasis?! Why is there no character depth to them!? UGH!
Okay... Maybe it's there, and I just can't see it because I spend most of the episode going "No... No... No don'- Crap you're doing that... **sigh**" But that's why, in Touch the Sky, I devoted more time to showing them differently...
So yeah... That's my huge confession... I mean... I could also mention that I really don't like Spike episodes... Again, making the same mistakes and never learning from them... That sort of deal... **sigh** but yeah... CMC episodes... Don't like 'em...
And now I should get to bed... It's 2am and my mom's supposedly abducting me in 5 hours to go look at kittens in Iowa...
