    Arc 1 Trivia

Alright, Arc 1 is finally at a close. I'm probably talking to myself here, but time for a quick bit of author insight.

1: The chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, 7, and 8 are all intended to feature most prominently a different member of the M6. Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow, Applejack, and Twilight.

Arc 1 Trivia · 3:04am Apr 16th, 2016

Alright, Arc 1 is finally at a close. I'm probably talking to myself here, but time for a quick bit of author insight.

1: The chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, 7, and 8 are all intended to feature most prominently a different member of the M6. Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow, Applejack, and Twilight.

2: Many, indeed most, original characters' sexes are determined by coinflip on random.org, including Silk's. Had she been a he, it's quite likely the story would have gone in a completely different direction.

3: About two months after writing Shadowdancer I discovered that there is a class in D&D that teleports through shadows called the "Shadowdancer." :twilightoops: Oops. This would be the 2nd time I've accidentally chosen a name that is already in use. However, my SD uses portals, so meh, I'm not changing it like I did with Fletch.

4: Despite the fact that Silk gets the most screen time, Twilight remains one of the main characters. She has dialogue for every chapter of Arc 1 save for 1 and 10.

5: Scarab is very clever and quite well educated, particularly for a soldier class changeling (their intelligence is generally subpar), but he didn't quite nail what Quencher did.

6: I once tried to submit Remnant to EQD. It was rejected on the basis of being a sequel to a story they hadn't featured. I then tried to submit In the Shadow of a Special Day, but it got rejected because of its admittedly poor formatting. That means they both have one strike on them, I think, so I'm not confident enough to try to edit it to their liking and submit it again.

7: The storm starting early in chapter 8 was Fletch's fault. He sent Luna a signal with a lightning bolt, prompting her to send the invitation, but accidentally started the whole storm ahead of schedule. Guy just cannot catch a break.

8: Originally "At least it isn't raining" was just a throwaway line to indicate things couldn't get much worse. However, it lost that status very shortly after I wrote it.

9: Celestia and Luna do not swear by each other or by themselves, they generally use aspects of their domains instead, or generic ones like "goodness' sake." Changelings' swearing by "Chrys", instead of Chrysalis, is mostly so I can get away with having them swear by "Christ" without adding references to real world religions where they do not belong.

10: The scene in the rain was inspired by, and reverses, one of my favorite scenes from Fullmetal Alchemist.

On a less story-oriented note: I never logged in here since I washed my hands of the official show (let's not get into that), but I've still been floating around here and there in the fandom.

Whilst I'm here, a short list of things I fantasize Remnant having
1: A "completed" status.
2: Satisfied readers.
3: A feature on EQD. That would require a fair bit of editing, though... any volunteers? :twilightsheepish:
4: Shoutouts. Got one already; there was quite a bit of unmanly squeeing that day.
5: A tvtropes page.
6: A more reliable author. Hrm.
7: Unprompted fanart.
8: A better "cover" image.
Guess I'll just have to try to impress, huh? :rainbowdetermined2:

I don't frequent EqD any more, but I recall hearing some time ago that they'd done away with their "strikes" system. They would still get annoyed if you spammed them over and over again, but they weren't keeping track in an official sense. So if you're still interested in submitting your stuff to EqD you might want to check up on that, your old strikes might be erased.
