Top Ten Final Boss Themes · 2:18pm Apr 15th, 2016

And NO; not the band "Final Boss". Honest mistake.

Hello everyone! My name is SuperKamek and welcome back to yet another countdown!

If you remember from my old, outdated and really, REALLY terrible Top Ten Final Boss Fights (still check it out if you can), you'd know I'm kind of a sucker for final bosses. They're an ultimate test of your skill, putting everything on the line for this one final moment. Well, most of them do anyway. However, I don't think I've ever really spoken about just how much I love final boss themes. From triumphant to just plain epic, they exemplify just the kind of epic battle you've gotten yourself into.

Most of the time.

So sit back and enjoy the list! Note that not all bosses on this list are particularly good, but I'm just rating them for the themes. I may make a comment or two about the boss, but they will not have any final impact on the overall score of the game. Also note that this is my list and if you can't find your favorite theme on here, it's either because I simply don't like it as much as the others, or I haven't played the game.

Oh, and if it wasn't obvious enough, SPOILERS!!!

Number 10:
Heavy Metal

I FUCKING HATE THIS BOSS!!

But most of you already know that. What we're here to talk about is the music! It's face-paced, epic, and fucking metal as fuck, dude! The theme truly makes you feel like not only that this is the final battle, but also that you are at the disadvantage. You are about to get your ass handed to you on the finest silver and china England has to offer. And that's exactly what the actual boss delivers! But more on that later. I'm just sad this boss theme was wasted on such a piss-bad and overall terrible boss.

Number 9:
The Greatest Jubilee

What better a theme for fighting a fucking goddess?

The Greatest Jubilee perfectly captures the fact that this is the final boss you're dealing with. Angelic chords all around the track, the sorrow tune that tells you this is all or nothing, and the facade of peace and harmony around the 2:32 mark. Jubileus herself was built-up fantastically, only being heard from bosses right before they kicked the bucket, and although we don't really know much about her, after hearing this theme, suddenly none of that really matters. All you care about is kicking some angel ass in the greatest way possible!

Number 8:
Megalovania

Oh yeah; try and act surprised for this.

Megalovania has been overused, overplayed, and over... just about everything else. But all of a sudden, that doesn't really matter, because the theme is still as awesome as it was a few months ago. The dark tones, the epic guitar solo, the intensity starting right around the 0:15 mark, it all adds up to one thing: You're gonna have a bad time. And that's just what I love about the theme. After killing everyone in Undertale, your reward is getting a rock shove up your ass and your happiness removed from your body. Good luck doing on that boss, yeah?

Number 7:
Vs. Malladus (Part 3)

I am so happy I was able to play this game.

Spirit Tracks is such an underrated gem of a game. And to cap the entire game off, we have this triumphant-sounding melody to go along with the final battle. The battle itself isn't anything really memorable, but the music has stuck with me for all my life. The uses of the flute, cymbals, all the Locomo instruments, and the ever-so popular LoZ violas make this theme one of the better ones for sure. But as much as I absolutely love this theme for it's triumphant nature and DEM CYMBALS, no Legend of Zelda final boss theme is quite as great as...

Number 6:
Ganondorf (Second Half)

This theme reeks with dread, but in absolutely the best ways possible. After Ganondorf kills Midna, and after you chase him on your horse for a while, this theme starts playing. The heavy drums, trumpets and dark choir all meld together into a masterpiece of darkness. But it doesn't stop there! Around the 3:33 mark, a triumphant tune starts playing, cheering you on for a brief second before going back to total darkness. It's that one little fraction that sells this theme for me. What a fantastic theme to end off a fantastic game.

Number 5:
Endless Possibilities

Fuck you, I love this game.

And with the game comes absolutely badass music! While Perfect Dark Gaia may look like the absolute silliest thing since sliced potatoes mixed with whipped cream, the theme playing during the fight is nothing to gawk at. Powerful wind instruments crossed with all the strings you can put into an orchestra, and you have the most triumphant theme in the Sonic franchise. Even if people hate this game with a burning passion, I'll still play it again if it means listening to that rocking music! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go and play some Sonic...

Number 4:
Oppa Toby Style

Should this count?

Fuck it, this counts. After all, Homestuck is technically a video game crossed with a Webcomic, so... A-Anyway, this theme is all kinds of awesome! The chaotic notes, the intensity starting very suddenly at the 0:31 mark, and instruments combined with the techno aspects of the theme make this a worthy final battle theme in the final few pages of Homestuck. While I haven't read the entirety of Homestuck, it being a true test of endurance and memory, this one last theme makes me want to start as soon as possible! Won't say who the boss is though...

Number 3:
Reincarnation of Light and Darkness

Hell. Fucking. Yeah.

What an absolutely spectacular way to finish off a Monster Hunter game. Most of the other Elder Dragon themes are dark, foreboding, and just plain evil. Reincarnation of Light and Darkness IS all those things, but it's also something they're not; absolutely triumphant. I never felt like I was at the disadvantage during the battle, I felt like the Shagaru Magala and I were on equal terms; a fight between two rivals that have been at each other since half-way through the low rank campaign. Oh, and this fight is HARD if you're not ready! Makes the music all the more awesome.

Number 2:
Vs. Ghetsis

This is intense!

Pokemon is such a happy and free game where you enslave animals and use them for your own abusive amusement. Absolutely nothing dark can happen in THIS game! Then you hear this theme and all of a sudden everything goes to shit. The dark drums and the evil chanting all add up to pure evil, and that's not even going into the the philosophy of what the choir is chanting. This man wants to crush you for foiling all of his plans up to this point, and this theme perfectly sums up the entire fight. But what could possibly be number one?

Number 1:
Dancing Mad

Perfection.

The 17 minute tune is split into four parts, all representing Kefka's insanity as well as the levels of hell, earth and heaven, respectively. Tier one represents Kefka's anger and hatred, playing a sorrow tune with face-paced drums at the end. Tier two represents Kefka's madness and insanity, playing a frantic theme alongside the insane choir. Tier three represents Kefka's joy with destruction and narcissism, playing a harmonious tune that quickly fades to almost pure evil. The final tier is the most famous, representing Kefka's godhood and absolute power. This tier plays a frantic melody that quickly turns into a sad one, as if Kefka finally realizes he's about to lose the battle and everything he's destroyed will soon be undone. I could go on for hours explaining how good this final battle theme is and how much it symbolizes, but I'll spare you the details. In the meantime, just listen to your kickass music.

And that's the list! Sorry it was shorter this time; I tried to keep it as minimum as possible due to some school shit. But did you enjoy it anyway? What's your favorite final boss theme? Tell me in the comments below and a reason why you love it so much! In the meantime, this is SuperKamek saying thank you, have a great night, and don't do what Kefka does and blow up the world.

Still the same old SuperKamek. :raritywink: Still a lover of RPGs and all that crap. Still finds Dancing Mad a fucking masterpiece of a track that has aged beautifully. Still wants a FUCKING REMAKE OF FINAL FANTASY 6 ON THE 3DS, DAMMIT!!!! :flutterrage::twilightangry2:

As a fellow final-boss-theme-lover is here a collection of my favourite themes (in no particular order):

Crush 40 just knows how to make epic final boss songs.

The best music from the best Mario&Luigi title.

If the answer isn't Megalovania.

The finale of Kirby Triple Deluxe is full of great music and this is the masterpiece.

All you need to do is go to the YouTube symbol on the comment box, copy and paste the YouTube URL onto the area provided, and it'll turn out something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=736Ed0Fc8zg

In other words, just remove the "m." at the beginning of the URLs there.

And if you don't know how to edit comments, press the pencil button at the top right corner of your comment.

3872328 Hmm, not that I know of. :twilightblush:

3872401
Maybe something from Pokemon? :rainbowkiss:

3872404 Oo, that's a hard one because I like pretty much all of them. Though if I had to say, it would probably be Red's theme. Battling him in Soul Silver was awesome!

3872389
Thank you:yay:
And now enjoy the musical epicness

Nothing from Dark Souls! ?

3872914
Well, I mean, uh... :twilightoops:

From 1 and 3, right? Thankfully, I do know SOMETHING about the DS series. :rainbowlaugh:
