Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow. Also, a small MH:E update. · 7:07am Apr 14th, 2016

I'm leaving home tomorrow to turn my associate's degree into a bachelor's degree at BYU Idaho. For reasons I do not fully understand, their honor code forbids beards. Mustaches are fine, apparently, but they kinda look really dumb on me. :derpytongue2: Whatever the case, It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make so that I can attend school there.

Click below the break for related pics of me, as well as a small update on what's going on with Monster Hunter: Equestria.

Me, before cutting off my facial hair.

Me, with my beard at its normal length.

Me, as I am now.

Being beardless after about five years of wearing a beard feels weird. It might take me a while for my self-image to adjust enough for me to immediately recognize my own reflection, and my chin is cold all the time now. Unexpectedly, eating soup and drinking water are now somewhat more challenging. :derpyderp1:

Now y'all know what I look like, and you know where I'll generally be for the foreseeable future. I think I'll refrain from sharing my social security number, though. :rainbowwild:

If anyone reading this attends BYU Idaho, please leave a comment or send me a PM to that effect. It might be fun to hang out once I'm there.

Anyhow, the progress report on Monster Hunter: Equestria that I promised.

Regrettably, I won't be able to get the new chapter finished before school starts on Monday. I am, however, a significant distance into the chapter. I'm currently on either the final or the penultimate scene of the chapter. If the scene I'm working on isn't the final one, it's only because I'll need Derpy to give Bon Bon her answer on-screen instead of between chapters.

Once I do get the next chapter of MH:E posted, I'm starting to feel the call of Desert Spice. I think I'll be working on that one for a chapter, once I have a clear picture of what my workload in my classes is going to be like. I'm taking some fairly advanced math, along with an intro to computer programming and a couple of electives. One of the electives is a creative writing class.

So yeah. Tomorrow is going to be one heck of a life-changing road trip. :rainbowdetermined2:

Ah, good luck!

What a terrible policy. You look pretty good with the beard, and so different surprisingly.

I mourn for the loss of your beard. Good luck in school, though I don't see what you could possibly learn from such unenlightened savages.

Thanks! I'll put it in the luck bin for finals and group projects.

It is weird how much difference a patch of face fuzz makes, isn't it?

Thanks for the compliment. Members of my extended family had told me that I'd restored their faith in facial hair.

Hopefully enough to get my degree and then pass my actuarial exams. :derpytongue2:

Challenge accept— I mean, good idea.

If your next post isn't indicative of misery, I'm coming after you for that next chapter. Figuratively, of course. :coolphoto:

Aww... I was hoping for actual hounds this time. :fluttercry:

I'll just have to work on either being productive or miserable so I don't have to worry about figurative hounds. Those things are nasty.

The university says no to beards but what about growing your hair long and getting dreadlocks?

and so different surprisingly.

Reminds me of the time before April 1st when Significant Other waited until I was asleep and shaved off his "American Civil War general" beard and moustache. I think I woke the neighbours in our flat when I woke up the next morning to an unfamiliar face, screaming bloody murder.

Wow. Now that is a man who's invested in his pranks.
