If You Like Dragon Ball Z, You'll Love This. · 5:55am Apr 14th, 2016
The guys behind Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope are amazing. It's hard to believe they with a limited budget were able to create this short film that looks like a Hollywood blockbuster. The actors for Androids 17 and 18 were perfect. I'm sad when I found out that they had to recast Gohan for Episodes 2 and 3 after Anton Bex had to deal with a family emergency, but I'm sure Kenny Leu will do just as well. Episode 2 is coming in a few months or so.

I personally love this special.
The sad thing is that Dragonball Evolution had a huge budget and as absolutely horrid, but this was made on a micro budget and completely demolishes it in every way.
And yeah, agreed with 17 and 18. Also, was it just me or did they have sort of blue glow to their irises at times? It worked regardless, just wondering if it was just me.
4168718 I'm pretty sure the Androids' eyes were glowing blue.
What I really liked about the special was how it subtly established that even as a Super Saiyan, Gohan was no match for the Androids in a direct contest of brute strength, but it didn't make him helpless and he used some tactics.
Here's to episode 2 when it finally arrives.

I also like that they made Super Saiyan WORK in live action, which isn't an easy thing to do.

4168960 Probably the same reason why The Last Airbender failed. The directors only cared about making a movie and not about making it faithful to the source material. What's sad is that James Marsters was an actual fan of DBZ and agreed to play Piccolo because he wanted to honor the franchise, but I guess he didn't get any creative control. He made up for it by playing the role 100% seriously and was able to convince them to make Piccolo actually look like an alien and not a bishounen human like they wanted to.
