If you haven't read this, you need to

Fresh from the "it's a crime if this doesn't get featured" list, is the short story Riverdream At Sunset.

It's written as an 1800's period piece, with trappings more than reminiscent of Doyle or Verne and absolutely hits the spot on the whole look and feel.

I blame it on Terry Pratchett

    state of the bunny, 2015

    So it's a new year.

The previous one has passed much like every other one did, with a bang as much as with a whimper. For a while here, it was sodding cold, and I mean real proper brass monkey weather. Right now it's barely below zero, and instead of snow we've got rain and ice. Seriously, I could skate down my driveway.

"chrysalis vs hearth's warming" may be a little late

    I know, I know: I missed hearth's warming.

Well, I'm still writing my christmas special so you'll just have to wait. I think it'll be worth it...

it features everyone's favourite changeling queen and her endless quest to destroy all love and happiness everywhere - this time by blowing up cinder claws and destroying hearth's warming. And how that doesn't quite go according to plan...

so, apparently pony fanfiction is srs bsns · 6:16pm Aug 30th, 2012

Stop me if you've read this one before.

No, seriously - if you don't know what the letters T, C and B mean next to each other, then move along. What follows is going to be delicious drama to a very, very small percentage of people and utterly, utterly boring to the rest.

I apologize to the vast majority of my ~600 followers who don't give a flying fuck. Don't waste your time here. I'm updating chapter 9 of King of Diamonds as we speak. Sort of... you know what I mean.

EDIT: Some wording has been toned down or changed in this blog post since inception, since the source files have been altered and time and effort has been wasted sorting out those changes. I don't tend to delete or edit comments, others may, and story revisions are always good, but it does kind of negate any ability to discuss them.

Anyway...

Over a year ago now, a story was written and published to EqD. To be honest, the quality wasn't there and today it wouldn't have been. What it lacked in execution it made up for in sheer bravado, though. The idea is simple: what if Equestria suddenly appeared in the sea off the coast of America, and what if ponies could come to Earth, but humans couldn't get to Equestria... as humans. What if the humans were offered a one-way ticket to a place which is essentially heaven to many, but the catch is that one-way-ness. They would have to become a pony.

The world of the Conversion Bureau was born, and it was good.

Oh, sure, the original was pretty terrible, and the spinoffs that appeared soon after weren't much better, but it was fun. I've written a few (I'll get back to them, later). Many others still are. I still am. I write what I want, damn it.

The issue isn't how good or bad it is, but that these are stories. Stupid, often badly written, sometimes amazingly majestically realized, stories. But, at the end of it all, they're just stories. Like 'em or hate 'em, you read 'em or you don't.

What you don't do is hound a writer over them. What you don't do is cram her email box full of right-wing Nazi paraphernalia. What you don't do, and let me make this clear, is threaten to kill her over them.

And finally, what you don't do is laugh in her face when, as the visible face of hate, she comes to you saying "please, can you stop making my life hell?".

I saw all this happening, all the cries of how her works are misanthropic, and it floored me. Willful misunderstandings, outright lies and exaggerations abound over this author's work. Mocking insults over her admittedly colourful and abnormal life aplenty, and finally (as if that wasn't enough), one particular shitty individual writing what amounted to "you deserved to get death threats".

Over fanfiction, for crying out loud.

I tried to reason and talk with them, and in fact set about reading some of their works. The best thing I can say about the best of them them is that they're above average at best. That's maybe six individuals who enjoy ponies, write about ponies and Earth together in a world where there are (or were) Conversion Bureau's, and yet they label themselves anti. A good deal of the rest just either shit on a page and fingerpaint with the result or act as a perpetual cock-sucking service for the very few individuals who can string words together in a sentence without drooling or needing their diapers changed.

Let me take an example - and I'll use it because it's the most popular "anti" story, with an inordinate amount of comments and its own fanclub on tvtropes.com built by the same asskissing sycophants who have helped ruin it by not stopping to point out where things went off the rails or don't make sense. Instead, like the worst of the pro-tcb fans they claim to despise, they make their excuses and mock objections openly.

The story is Not Alone.

It features humans who will give up their offspring if said offspring become ponified, where they are sent to prison without trial for the crime of being a pony.
It features the author-fiat of "ponification means personality death" without fully, to my satisfaction, establishing it in the story (what is there is weak) and without exploring it further.
It features soldiers knowingly bombing civilian targets without remorse, and an army brass who know and don't care.
It features princesses who, rather than acting rationally, act as a parody and a blatant fuck you to other TCB authors and so just plain don't make sense, all the while with the author claiming that this insanity is justified because he's deliberately writing his interpretation of others' writings.

To be fair, the author has later stated that my initial opinion was wrong and given sound reasons as to why (see comments 128+ ish). In some of these cases he is right, it's mostly down to my misunderstanding as a reader, and perhaps I'm arrogant when I say that it's just par for the course in not specifically his writing, but any, that failure to elucidate suitably will cause such confusion. Detractors may say it's because I dislike humans winning or ponies cast in a negative light. I can honestly say that's not true. The issue is that some fans honestly saw all of the above as a non-problem because "ponies started it". Apparently warcrimes, to these people, are okay if it's tit for tat. I could perhaps dig out my comments, but I fear they may have gone to that great bit-bucket in the sky.

Me: flabbergasted.
Me: disgusted.

so, I did something which I thought at the time was a good idea. I pulled my TCB stories because I don't want to be associated with that.

And now, because of that, I may have lost a friend. She didn't understand why I did what I did, and doesn't understand what I meant by it. So you know what? I'm putting them back up, because whatever message I intended is being misunderstood by those I care about and ignored by those who don't. I want to send a different message: I enjoy Chatoyance's work. I don't understand all of it, I don't agree with all of it, I personally think some of the ramifications are terrible and awful and would - were I in that universe - do things differently (and so I do, in my take on things), but I thoroughly enjoy her work and just don't understand why - when her work and mine isn't being read by those shitting on it (yes, really) - things have to jump to personal attacks and abuse.

So imagine my words forming a middle finger, if they displease you. I will write what I want, I will enjoy what I want, and I care about my friends far more than I care about making that statement which was ignored or misunderstood.

You want to know something? I want to write an origin story, in a fully-realized world. I want to base it off of Chatoyance's work because her worlds have so much colour. In my world, Celestia knows exactly why Earth is being destroyed and she deliberately doesn't stop it. She couldn't anyway, but she let it happen, because she is the tyrant that so many seem to think she is. She is a goddess, and if wiping out an entire world an absorbing their occupants into her own civilization is the only way she can protect her people against griffons and dragons and other, worse monsters, she will.

And through all this, ponification in my world is still preferable to being where the humans were.

And yes, the world would have got over the destruction wrought upon it.

That's the terrible secret to my Conversion Bureau world: my world features the most deliberately determined Celestia of any of them. It's been planned since the very beginning - you can even see it in "the day the sky changed".

If you want to read them (before they are back up), then just go to my group, Hand or Hooves and you'll find them.

I don't care whether - if you're reading this and you hate chatoyance enough to shit on her life - you hate her works and now mine. I just want you to leave her alone. I can't believe you think it's worth it. I'm not holding up some blanket and wearing too much mascara, but I am drawing a line in the sand. And then walking away from it.

Because damn, this is my little pony fanfiction.

I care more about the friendships I have made (and possibly lost) through it than appeasing some gibbering man-children with nothing better to do than make some woman's life hell because they can't get over the fact she used to be a man, or that she holds some odd and (to some) extreme political views.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled my little pony fanfiction website.

Glad to see you come back Midnight. Was getting a little sad with so many of the old faces not around :pinkiesad2:

I agree with you about pretty much all of it. I also envy you for being a thousand times more eloquent than I am about things like this :rainbowlaugh:

Why can't we all just get along, and unite in the fact that we all like My Little Pony?
All this senseless hatred is ridiculous.

I feel bad for everyone involved.

I don't think Not Alone is that bad, though. It's just another take on the whole TCB thing. And while it has problems (and while I do agree with those you pointed out), I don't think it deserves that much ire.

...I got mental images of Chris Crocker at a couple of certain points in this post, but, seriously, right now? All I'm envisioning is that one animated gif from Citizen Kane.

Kudos to you on this. Who gives a fuck over what those idiots think? The only people that matter don't mind, the ones that do don't matter. That's the way it is, that's the way it always has been, and its the way it always will be.

Good On ya, Mids.

Fuck yeah, nice to have ya back broseph.

I heard about the drama TCB had going around. But to make someone's life hell over this? This people should be institutionalized. My heart goes to Chatoyance, you and any other that have to endure this kind of behavior from people who supposedly learned to love a series about friendship and acceptance...

Lose not your hope on humanity, and don't let her either. There is a lot of shitty people out there, everywhere, but for every piece of crap human, there are 5 good people. Even if we don't agree, even if we hold different beliefs, we have to stand against this mockeries of humanity, that hide behind the anonymity of the Internet. The best of luck to both of you, may you never loose the desire to write fantastical worlds.

i am stumped. truly stumped. fiction is meant to be something that a person can sit down, spread the wings of their imagination and fly where ever, however high, and with whatever ideas come to the fore of that persons mind. and like any SKILL some folks are better at it than others. but at the same time, somefolks do it for thier OWN enjoyment.

yes, for their OWN enjoyment

pretty shocking yes? that someone would do something like write a fiction because they ENJOY doing. in a way, living vicariously through words the life of a fictional character and enjoying whatever adventures might come to be.

so i have to wonder what sort of person can willfully foment HATE at such a person for having the gall, the nerve, the bravery to SHARE what they have written with others? really it mystifies me how someone can do such a thing. really, it does. it makes me cry inside to see a person discouraged for what they write because some small minded individual wants to hate on people for be able to do with words something that is so unique, and so very beautiful as write a story.

Midnight, Chatoyance. i hold the two of you most of all responsible for making me want to write. you both inspired me to put pen to paper. wether or not i will ever post my scribblings is beside the point, but i am writing. and you both inspired me to do so.

Bravo, Midnight! I agree completely and I'm a huge fan of Chat's work.

Now, if you would be so kind as to write more on some of those stories I'd very much like to read them. :pinkiehappy:

Here hear!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, there has been an unbelivable amount of behaviour counter to everything FIM is suposed to represent.
Its good to see you back hun and I'm sure Chatty will apreciate what you've said here. I can understand why she was upset, but she's a lady with a big heart when it comes to her friends.

Whatever Happened to Love & Tolerance? I had thought that for the most part one of the appeals of the pony world was learning how to be friends. Learning to understand those things that make each and every one of us different, unique, and worth getting to know. It was my understanding that we like the pony world for among other reasons it's call to compassion and becoming a better person through friendship. It boggles my mind that there are people who call themselves fans of this show who would stoop to making someone else's life miserable over a difference in opinion and interpretation. Though I cannot speak for others I CAN and WILL speak for myself, I am most displeased by this kind of behavior. My own mother had a phrase for things like this, "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all." I personally find no fault in TCB stories and in fact do read and follow a fair number of them.

I can't honestly say I've read TCB, doesn't mean I won't or will, but what people are doing to the universes creator is stupid. I've seen people with their heads up either their butt or someone else's, and at this point I find that almost nobody is an exception to that. BUT there are a few that deserve respect for not dropping that low. This is one of the reasons I never listen to news intensely or any other such nonsense, because all that I seem to hear is someone complaining about how someone else did something not 'politically correct.'

and here is an excellent quote for the society we live in today,
"Why Have a civilization anymore when we are no longer interested in being civilized?"
I'd ask people to think about it, but I doubt half of them actually will. :fluttershysad:

... For the love of Luna... she got death threats AGAIN?!

*just quietly facehooves and hugs you AND her tight... and resolves to get that TCB fic of her own posted this weekend*

Don't worry, I am in full agreeance with what you say. Sometimes, the TCB fics cross lines. But that is what happens with any kind of art. And those lines are there to be crossed, to make people think and feel and question their beliefs. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot blind to reality.
Chatoyance does not deserve any of the stupid abuse some people seem to send her way. If anything, she deserves an incredible amount of praise for making us, as her readers, think and wonder about the consequences, to challenge what we believe in, because that makes us grow as people.
I'll admit, Chat's fics made me uneasy at times. There are even some I refuse to read, for reasons I won't get into. But that does not give anyone the right to do what they are to make her feel depressed. That kind of behaviour should not be tolerated anywhere, let alone in this fandom. To see that people have sunk to these depths, over misinterpretations and opinions... I weep for humanity. Someone has to.

Thank you for this.

I think the Antis have to much time on their hands and have spent to much time on the internet to distinguish what is reality and what is a story about 4ft pastel colored ponies that talk, use magic and fly.

And so another fan-fiction war rages on, with many a drama bomb being dropped for no reason. Ugh.

While I only know a bit of the TCB universe, I do know that it was not my cup of tea after reading a bit. But going so far for your hate of it? Why? Sure its good to voice your own opinions but to actively flame someone? To go so far at handing out death threats? Really?

Weren't we supposed to be about loving and tolerating? Or do we love and tolerate some people more than others now?

why so many people have the dumb i will never know:unsuresweetie:

the whole damn fandom takes itself too seriously these days. From what I've heard the music side of things is nearing the point of being it's own music industry, at leas the art side is relatively good still since there's so much content, but hearing this about the fanfiction side makes me want to find some of the idiots out there and tolerate them to death with my new knife...

but homicidal tendencies aside, I think everyone just needs to see that people will write what they want (freedom of speech and all that) and while it's alright if you don't like something, it's not alright to lead a crusade against it unless it's actually hurting someone. Do the TCB fics hurt anyone? I have my sincerest doubts.

so to the anti-TCB-nazi's out there (and those of similar mentality and maturity) there's another writer and musician walking past your rabid mob of idiots and people who give humanity (and parts the fandom) a bad name with the bird proudly flipped, and arms wide open. Come at me bro, I'll love and tolerate the shit outta ya because I write for fun and to stay creative in a world where people like you have leeched the ability to do so from almost every other aspect of my life. To you people i say: Walk beside me as an equal, walk behind me as a follower, do either one with respect no matter your opinion, but stay the hell out of our way if you are trying to stop anyone from doing something harmless and creative that they love because we won't be stopped. :coolphoto:

I really wish they would leave her alone.:applecry: I agree with what you said here. Its pretty terrible that they are still sending death threats. ><

That's why your TCB stories are gone? So who exactly do I have to blame for the lack of good fanfiction around? Also, Death threats? Seriously? Come on Bronies, whatever happened to 'Love and Tolerate'!

I haven't read many TCB stories, but those I have read (Cloudhammer's to be specific) have been entertaining and well worth reading. Really disappointed to hear that Chat has been treated so badly by people who are supposedly fans of Friendship is Magic.

Seriously, no one is forced to read anything on this site that they don't want to. Is it really that hard for people to respect other people's opinions and creative works even if you personally disagree with them?

And these people wonder why Chatoyance's version of Equestria is enticing...

Oh gods, I suspected I knew where you were going with this when I saw TCB, I was pretty sure when you said "her".... Seriously, guys? If you don't like Chatoyance's stories, don't read them! You know what they're about by now. I swear, some people are addicted to being offended or something. If they don't have something petty to be an ass about, they just don't know what to do with their day. :facehoof:

I believe the song "It's all fanfic to me" would be rather fitting here.

I'm glad you're fully back Midnight. It really is frustrating to have to put up with people who feel justified to vilify and persecute others over stories about talking, pastel coloured ponies! As the saying goes, there's one in every crowd, and so it should not be a surprise that the Brony community holds at least a few such in our very large crowd. Yes, it's distressing to have them around, but as I've said to Chat, we musn't let these idiots drag us down. We musn't let them discourage us from writing the stories and participating in this community. Because in the end, if we do so, we will only hurt ourselves. The only way to deal with bullies is to go on with life and show them them just how irrelevant they are.

I have not and do not intend to read any of these stories because they don't appeal to me. So WHY would anyone ever do this to you guys, if they don't like the story just don't read it:facehoof:
This has chased off Device Heritic, PLEASE don't let them do the same to you.
I hope that this makes up for the hate.:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

Some fucking nerds, I swear. :|

You still have to rec me some good TCB fics to read so I can parody write my own, fyi.

No offense, and I don't mean to sound like a jaded buttwipe, but that was possibly never real.

Some of the dirtiest, lowest internet drama I've ever heard about has come from the brony fandom. Sniping, backstabbing, personal attacks, actual violence in real life (Seen a few stories from the recent big-name cons, even) and all sorts of generic bullshit, all hiding beneath a thin veneer of "Love and Tolerance". And now this.

It does upset me, this whole sorry series of events.

I think I can attest to the makeup of the "Anti" group somewhat: a recent story of mine, despite having noted flaws (I'll be an ass and blame them on time) has eclipsed the rest of my works in ratings; very nearly beating them combined, on it's own - and it's not just the Juggernaut cover art image that's doing it, I reckon. Only three people have called me on shenanigans, and one of them on things greater than grammar that I didn't already know. Two or three people have voiced the opinion that a chapter I posted then axed for being terrible, was actually good - further proving they don't know a thing. (It really was terrible.)

When it comes to having opinions, I try to be objective and come to them based on what I feel. I'm not the biggest fan of Chat's work - it doesn't totally gel with me, it just rubs me the wrong way a little for reasons I can't place, and I think I accidentally made this known to her in a very poor manner once - but I like it for it's other merits. Consistent universe. Constant references, and the odd "glorious bastard" moment. Not to mention she actually puts at least a little effort into making it readable and pleasant on the eyes. Given a choice between her writing and most of the stuff (junk) that hits the featured box, I'd still pick her stuff.
And even if I didn't like her writing, even I, a vitriolic, immature, unfeeling ass with ignorance enough to fill a room, would still not take it beyond a thumbs down, perhaps an upset comment asking why she felt Thing X was necessary and/or what I was not pleased with.

Which begs the question - what sort of people would take it past the vote and comment, and into the internet at large? People worse than me, and that does worry me.

Well, it's nice to see the stories back, at any rate, middy. Here's hoping this sorry state of affairs comes to a halt sooner rather than later.

You know what's so tragicaly ridiculously ironic?

By doing to her, or any other TCB author, the things the radical haters do....
...they actually become as bad as the worst kind of metaphorical humans used as object lessons and warnings in many TCB works.

IE; They prove her point. They become an *actual* incarnation of a fictional 'bad' guy they're decrying.
They become *truly* detestable misanthropists.

Fancy.
That.

While everyone is chewing on that... I think Ima grab some coffee.

... Okay, I'm going to ask a very, VERY stupid question, and I apologize... Can we have a link to your friend's fic? (Was it earlier and I missed it? I likes a good TCB fic...)

320187
I'd say read mine, but they don't take themselves seriously, so it'd be hard to parody... I'd say read Chat's or Cloudhammer's, and if you find yourself hating her stories, then stop.

If you (and this isn't just you, PP, this is anyone) find yourself muttering unsavoury words and comparing characters in my stories to certain historical dictators and it appears that I'm trying to be Ayn Rand and expounding how wonderful this behaviour is, then try explaining it to me. If I've fucked up, I'll say so. It's probable that I didn't think that deeply about it; rewriting to clarify what I do mean is fine. I won't rewrite to please any particular person though.

That's why I'm actually angry with myself for taking my stories down. I believe strongly in freedom of speech and personal responsibility. I thought I was making a good decision by taking my stories down in order to maybe just take some of the heat off (and I thought, for a short while, about taking posts on EqD down), but I wasn't. It was a terrible decision, and I am now rectifying that.

320208

Wow. Even on the internet I'm pretty sheltered. I frequent a few author's blogs but aside from the usual things the moderators are up to, I've never really seen anything like that. The harshest comment I've ever seen was something along the lines of "this is complete and utter rubbish, you need an editor badly." but even then the problem is pretty much that chapter was riddled with errors that made it unreadable. Can you direct me to these comments/incidents?

320210
Her name on Fimfiction is Chatoyance. It's not a stupid question - but it does kind of highlight why I said to just move along if you don't know because that probably means you don't care. According to some, for her incredible crime of writing fanfiction, she should be excoriated and burned not only in effigy but in fact.

She has created, using above average skill, a deep, colourful world. To some, it is highly disturbing. Infuriatingly so, because (to some), her opinions and world viewpoints are "misanthropic". Rather than discuss that with her, and maybe mock and belittle and then forget and ignore if you find yourself agreeing with that original viewpoint of her and her work, some seem to enjoy in making her life hell.

Read anything by her. If you read "the great respawn" and recoil in horror then you're probably done. Maybe the stories will leave a bitter taste in your mouth. I apologize. I suggest clicking the 'close tab' button in that case...

320209
That's the most astonishing thing. Their behaviour is approaching the most misanthropic behaviour I have ever encountered. This is actual behaviour rather than just stories which harm nobody.

I think sometimes people in this fandom forget that they are not on 4Chan anymore. I'll admit, I've openly criticized Chatoyance's work before. I don't like her vision of the Princesses being almighty deities, I don't like the fact that many of her stories have a twist at the end that doesn't seem to fit the theme of the rest of the story, and I disagree with her opinion that somehow season 2 of the show was terrible and canon-breaking. But to hound the poor woman because you don't like her stories? That's just stupid.

I'm not a 4Chan user, but from what I understand, this kind of behavior is the norm there. If you don't like someone, or disagree with their lifestyle, you hound them until they leave. This is not 4Chan, this is a fiction site. People willingly put their time into writing stories, and they post them here hoping to bring enjoyment to others. They don't expect to be attacked here like they would on a more aggressive place like 4Chan. Some of the stories posted here are better than others, of course, but anyone putting themselves forward to have people read their stories are to be encouraged, not vilified.

Is it too much to ask that people be mature about their criticism? If you don't like a story, fine. If you don't like a sub-genre like TCB, fine. No one is forcing you to read it. But leave the authors who write it and the people that do like it alone.

Nice to see those stories back up (though I had not noticed, that they were gone :twilightblush:). I hope you can patch things up with Chatoyance.

Well, I would be pissed at this Conversion Bureau stuff, but then I think of my Deus Ex Machina for the whole situation, and then it is alright.

I won't pretend I don't hate this stuff. The first I ever heard of the Conversion Bureau was through your story (A Twist in the Tail). At first I was intrigued, but then I saw that most writers (besides you) have no faith in humanity and it always has to be one way. There cannot be any middle ground whatsoever.

But...

Well, you're right. I should not be judging. I can't, actually, since you included my short piece in your story. I hope this post won't make you remove it. But I guess I will never like this TCB stuff, because there is no way for peace in this universe(besides surrendering who you are and what you are, I just can't get over that). The one with Celestia's severed head horrified me. I don't call the death of her a victory. Peace just doesn't make a good story, I guess.

So I don't know. I guess what I want is coexistence, but that will probably never happen (except with my aforementioned Deus Ex Machina) in TCB universe.

But like you say, it's just fan fiction, people shouldn't be getting up in arms over an idea they don't agree with. If I don't like it, then I don't like it. But I won't go around demonizing it. As you say, that's what Nazis do.

You won't lose my Watch, however. I look forward to whatever you write. And maybe I can write something too.

Thanks for listening.

I don't care to recall exactly where I find them; a few blog posts on other sites, straight word-of-mouth from persons involved. Of course, it's not a case of "one bad all bad", and stories like Chatoyance's are uncommon, it's just the ones that do make noise tend to be particularly nasty.

I went and dug up some of the publicly-posted articles regarding recent conventions and the less-than-appropriate reactions of people therein. Read at your own peril, and take it with a pinch of salt - it's the internet, people may lie and embellish, and these accounts are coming from personal blogs, mostly, so bias might be in the air. (I haven't really got the desire to research this in-depth, so it might be a wee bit lacking)

I'll happily call someone names for not liking my favorite pony, but I do it in jest, and I'll eventually acknowledge that as superior as Rarity is, she does have flaws that might lend the illusion that another pony is best pony. I certainly wouldn't actually hit them over it. And if I had a problem with a fic, I wouldn't hound the author off-site over it.

And I will confess, I've ripped into people pretty harshly before over a story or comments, harsher than I needed to. Never over nothing, but I could have been nicer about it.

To be fair, Device Heretic's gone loco-wacky-nuts more than once now, and probably just drama'd himself off again. Even if the reasons he gave are true, he failed the simple test of common sense by posting embarrassing stuff where people who might employ him could easily find it.

Mids : I'm far, far from a TCB fan myself, given how much of it is HiE wish-fulfillment tripe, but I have to agree that this kind of bullying behavior is way out of line. Disgusting really.

Some people give way too much of a shit about what other people like and do.

Wow...just Wow... those things actually happened? You know, suddenly I'm much gladder that I'm a failure of an author and someone who has never been to a brony gathering of any sort.

I happen to enjoy a number of things Chatoyance has written, and I happen to dislike some of her work as well... Thanks for stickin' up for her, and I'm sorry that it's come to this. :ajsleepy:

I don't really want to lead you to more drama, but it's not hard to find. Just google "chatoyance" a little and you will find links to some sites that make a living out of mockery and scorn.

Her life is an incredible one, and personally it's no skin off my nose if some of the stranger aspects are made fun of since she chose to make them public. It sucks, it's not nice but humans rarely are, and saying "okay, joke was never funny, quit it" won't work.

What gets right up my nose is that some people are so infuriated with her mere existence that they are still furiously masturbating even now over having been making her life hell for a decade. Make no mistake, as sad as it sounds, there is a hardcore group of people who haven't gotten bored with shitting all over every mention of her for around ten years and it is those people who have discovered her Conversion Bureau stories and have been searching for an in to ruin it ever since then.

Their twisted little circle-jerking fanclub makes encyclopedia dramatica entries over her, wikipedia entries over her (I mean come on, she's not that interesting that she should require a wikipedia entry) and even stocked tvtropes with their own, often incorrect, extrapolations of every word she's ever said or written.

I don't really want to discuss it here more, I'd rather discuss it in my group - where discourse (even rude, heated discourse) is encouraged. Just don't bother dropping by if all you're going to do is shit out cryptic messages or insult my genealogical tree. I don't need or want that shit on my profile page and I will erase and block for it.

Sir, you can judge all you want. I don't mind, just please - if you actually have some beef with me, rather than just shitting all over me behind my back, bring it up in a PM. The little letter icon is right there.

I noticed, amusingly enough, that I lost at least three followers and gained at least two more. I'm not sure why, but I don't count followers so it hardly matters.

Like you said, hate me, hate chat, hate the stories... but for fuck's sake, just stop reading.

Personally, I'm glad my "shattered worlds" horrified you. It was supposed to. I'm writing another chapter, I hope you enjoy that at least as much :pinkiecrazy:

Haters gonna hate; that is only to be expected, especially for something as controversial as mixing humans and ponies. If you (or Chatoyance) let them affect your life, then that means they have won, which is what you do not want. The best option would be to just ignore them.

that's why I un-un-published my stories. I'm not saying "come at me bro", but it's like... fuck you if I'm going to deprive those who do like my stuff to appease those who not only don't, but don't care.

I've never been able to get into the TCB stuff, but I'd never hate on them for it. I also can't really get into the LoTR stuff either, pony or not, for the simple reason that the world may be great, but it's not one for me.
I happen to enjoy a lot of dark-world stories, because they appeal to me, likely on a "I can see the chance for redemption" level, but also because I am a little misanthropic.

But I just can't get into the TCB fics, for whatever reason.
But again, I still wouldn't hate on someone for it.
