I watched "A New Generation" the other day

    It was fine
I realized after the fact that I didn't spend any time thinking about which of the girls should kiss, though, or which of the background ponies had cool designs and possible backstories
    What is wrong with me???

but I guess it's kind of cool that G3.5 had seven main characters, then G4 had six, and now we're down to five

    I wrote another non-pony thing

Sorry, it's been what? It's been how many years since I was a prolific writer? Really? Well that's no good. Here I squeezed out some Symphogay. Some of the narration is uh a little... experimental? also maybe known as "bad"? look it's been a long time okay. But if you come to me because you like dialogue-heavy stories where everyone's

    The Ultimate Earworm

After many years of independent study, I can confidently announce that the song most likely to start playing in my head at random intervals is................

    Babs Seed.

I'd really have expected Winter Wrap Up to win but no, it's the CMC all the way. Hearts Strong as Horses is up there too.

Season 6 Liveblog: "On Your Marks" · 7:16pm Apr 9th, 2016

I'll try this once more I guess. Like last time, I have absolutely zero info about this episode, apart from the name which I just saw a couple of minutes ago. Maybe the CMC? Maybe a race? Maybe... both?! Perhaps the CMC have been so beset with requests from younguns to help with their cutie marks that they have organized a grand race, and the winner of the race will receive exclusive cutie mark tutoring benefits from the CMC for the period of a full year or until they get their mark whichever happens first. Yes, that sounds perfectly reasonable and in-character for all involved.

Anyway, either Starlight Glimmer or Explore Equestria seem like things that it'd be possible to tie into the CMC pretty easily. I really would like some reexamination from the show of what exactly it was that Starlight did in that town of hers, and since the show seems to enjoy making her feel awkward, maybe she can overhear a conversation among the CMC about how awesome it is to have their own personalized cutie marks (well, semi-personalized) and how they wouldn't want anything else for anyone else ever. Or maybe the CMC get summoned to the map room in Twilight's castle and have to go somewhere to solve cutie problems.

Or maybe none of that happens.

Well, that's Applejack's old clubhouse, so I guess I'm right so far.
Flip Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo's heads so that they're staring blissfully at each other instead of at their butts, and you've got the beginnings of a romantic comedy. Apple Bloom wants to run this shop with order and resolve, but she can't get anything done while all her teammates are busy mooning over one another! But when another young pony with a rebellious streak catches Apple Bloom's eye, will she learn the true meaning of puppy love... or of satanic rituals????
Oh my gosh Sweetie Belle is adorable in those clothes
(or otherwise)
screw it, they're all adorable today. everyone wins. everyone gets a cookie.
Two and a half minutes in and I am already getting tired of the words "cutie mark" :(
These girls could be the most annoying door-to-door salesponies ever. "Hello there! Have you been experiencing any dissatisfaction with your cutie mark lately? Maybe a nagging feeling that all is not right in the world? An inexplicable, yet inescapable sense of ennui? No? Are you sure? How about now?"
wait, I already wrote that, didn't I, bleh
Wasn't "blank flank" kind of originally an insult? Just like "mudblood"? And now they're dropping it like it's nothing.
Barber Groomsby! Hello!
Your weekly reminder that the IDW comics are not canon.
Girls, girls, it's not too late to start the cult of Cutietology! You just need to simultaneously worry other ponies into believing they have cutie mark problems, and that you can solve those problems, if only they'll just pay you some small sum of money first! Then as soon as that's over, you reveal they have another, even more expensive problem. You'll never run out of clients (at least until Luna randomly shows up in your dreams again and scowls at you).
yesssss Apple Bloom is a budding alchemist, not a carpenter, I approve
Huh, so are we actually getting an examination here of one of the show's fundamental conundra: do these characters have any interests in common that might motivate them to spend time together? But transposed onto the CMC? And postponed until Season 6?
"The cutie mark crusaders have always been my home... at least for the last, I dunno, two years, I think that's roughly the show's timeline is supposed to go, and I certainly don't have anypony else I could hang out with instead, especially not anyone with red hair and glasses, or even anyone rich and pink who wants to be my friend."
Oh, hey, I remember her! Peachy Pitt! She was a banner salesmare in that one Pinkie Pie episode, right?
...oh, and I guess I remember Tree Hugger too.
"Curses, I forgot about the rule that no filly can have more than two friends!"
Oh, hey, satanic rituals kid is actually pretty shy! And maybe Scootaloo's long-lost brother?
"You don't have to be good at something to have fun!" This is... actually a good line. Well done, Friendship is Magic.

Well, that episode was sure to spawn a few dozen shipfics, though it'd probably be easier if the little fellow had a name. Oh well. Anyway that was an okay episode. Nothing spectacular in the presentation, but more thoughtful than a lot of them are, although I think the pacing was a bit wonky and spent too much time rehashing the conflict and not enough time delivering the moral/s. Also there were a whole lot of background ponies (including Cherry Spices and yet another Sassaswirl cameo) and I am easily pleased.

The colt actually was named in the episode: Tender Taps.

Also, I admit, I had completely forgotten that Twist existed until I saw your comment.

3859133 Ah, my bad. That's certainly a name to give a newborn foal that you want to become a dancer.

The interesting part is that Twist and Diamond Tiara actually are both in the episode. But because we don't see Apple Bloom show up at Home Ec that day, we don't really know what happened that ended up with them working with other friends and Apple Bloom working alone, and therefore we don't know whose fault it is.
