Aspects of the show that I want explored. · 10:39pm Apr 8th, 2016
As much as I love this show of ours, there are plenty of plot elements that this show has that I would like explored in greater detail. I've been exploring some of them in my own fanfics, but its just not the same as seeing it in all its canon glory. Here's some of the things that I want explored, hopefully in this season.
Expanding on non pony races; In the most recent episode there was a very telling screenshot that might be hinting to the introduction to more non pony races in the future.
It would be interesting to see if any of the animal's represented by those plushies happen to be sapient and if they have their own nations around the world. If they are too scale, then Giraffe and Elephants in particular would tower over our little ponies. What kind of cultures would they have? Would some of them have magic or no? Not all horned creatures seem to have magic if Buffalo and Yaks are any indication of this.
I would also hope some of these races would actually have their act together as well. So far, ponies seem to be the most organized and harmonious out of every other race that has been introduced. The others have been depicted as aggressive, greedy, selfish, and in need of their message of "harmony" in order to become better as a species. That narrative has some... disconcerting undertones when you think about it. Having another race that have a different culture but also have something that the ponies could learn from would help alleviate the "pony master race" vibe that the show has had so far.
Expanding Spike as a character;
This show has a character with a mysterious origin whom was born on the same day the elements of harmony were founded and has equally mysterious abilities, yet they have done absolutely bupkis with him. In fact, they've slapped an apron on him and smacked him with a few doors, completely dismissing his potential as a character in favor of uninteresting gags.
Thankfully they seem to be hinting that they are taking his character in a new direction this season, emphasizing the few times they actually let him do something interesting. I really want them to explore his dragon nature, his origins, where Celestia happened to get his egg from, when they got his egg in the first place, and why they were using his egg in Twilight's test in the first place. He has all of these elements to him from how he grows via indulging in greed despite having a generous heart and how his pony like personality clashes with his dragon physiology. Hopefully they see this potential and expand upon it as the show progresses so he can finally move on from being the show's punching bag.
Expanding on Zecora's character: If there is one thing the season 5 finale really gave us, it was an interesting new look at Zecora as a character.
She has the potential to be a leader, a strategist, and her magic is some of the most mysterious of the show. How long has she been in the Everfree? Who is she? Why did she have such a prevalent role in the changeling timeline? What did she really see when Twilight and Spike glowed like that? So many questions I want explored about her character. I'm hoping she gets an episode dedicated to her this season.
Astrology, explaining how their solar system works; When you really think about it, their solar system makes no sense what so ever. At first I thought their sun and moon were just really small and revolved around the planet, but apparently several sources are saying that not only is their sun and moon the same size as ours, but they STILL revolve around the planet despite the catastrophic consequences of flagrantly whipping around giant bodies with massive gravitational pulls like they would have. If you whipped our sun around like that, we would die fairly quickly.
To complicate matters EVEN further we have THIS little piece of confusion.
Someone wrap your head around THAT solar system for a sec, especially when we know the SUN revolves around the planet. Either Celestia has some explaining to do or that is a model of an entirely different solar system.
There are more, but I think that is enough for this post. Thanks for reading!
agreed.
also, Speaking of spike....i think that all other dragons that have been shon so fat, have wings.
spike, doesn't...do they grow in later or does he levitate? or is he a species of flightless dragon?
subterranean?
3857738 I'd like to think he's a more "magical" variety of dragon than the winged dragons, at least that's my head canon about it. His ability to transport things through his flames and the spontaneous burst he had against that giant glacier that almost fell on the crystal empire stadium are more than enough to hint that he's got a lot more power than people assume.
When did that planetary model show up?
3887798 It was in Sunburst's house.
I think that everyone has magic. Look at griffins. Without magic they wouldn't be able to fly. They are too heavy. I have a theory that there is a deadly radiation on their planet, at least it would be deadly for us, and local life evolved so that they can use magic that is powered by the energy from this radiation and also protects them from this radiation. Humans would probably die in few minutes, if they somehow got there.
We know about binary systems that have planets orbiting both stars. It could be the same here. Star orbits planet where is Equestria and rest of the planets orbit around them.
