What we learned today · 6:13pm Apr 2nd, 2016
1. Maud Pie is a seething volcano of rage. Never give her a reason to erupt.
2. Pinkie Pie is still a good sister, but needs a lesson in proportionate use of explosive party ordinance.
3. Rarity will continue to expand her business rapidly, until she suddenly realizes she has overexpanded and is unable to support her vast fashion empire. By the time that happens, her entire business will collapse, she will be laughed out of the industry, and she will spend the rest of her days living on the streets, eating out of dumpsters, and finally dying alone and forgotten...
Or she'll continue to expand at a steady rate, become the biggest fashionista in Equestria, and live a wonderful and fulfilling life.
Yeah, judging by the target audience, I think the second option is more likely.
As much as Maud and Pinkie interaction continues to surprise me with how much I love it, I think my favorite thing about this episode was Rarity being a successful businessmare again.
We learned two other things:
1. Rarity says Manehatten is the most fabulous, glamorous, etc. city in all of Equestria, so apparently now she thinks it's better than Canterlot.
2. Suri Polomare is selling scarves on the street now.

Yeah, that actually struck me as rather odd, seeing as her big ambition from the very start of the series was always to make it big in Canterlot. So I'm just not really sure where this obsession with Manehatten comes from. She certainly had an appreciation for it in previous episodes, but this one was just bizarrely blatant about.
Then again, I've never really cared all that much for Manehatter. It just feels sorely out of place, an overly modernized city in a world otherwise populated by rustic farming towns, mountainside castles, and literal cities in the clouds. I could watch almost any other show if I just wanted another generic urban cityscape.
3845131 Maybe as she's spent more time in Canterlot, the novelty has faded for her? Rarity grew up in the shadow of Canterlot, I think her dreams of the city are similar to her old dreams of Blueblood. Also, after everypony in Canterlot snapped up an identical dress she sold, you can't blame her for losing a bit of respect for the collective taste of the Canterlot citizenry.
Manehatten, on the other hand, is clearly the largest city (and probably the wealthiest), and seems to be the center of the fashion world. Rarity does seem to like new things and exciting things, I could definitely see her gravitating to Manehatten, even if its not as interesting to us viewers as some of the more iconic cities like the Crystal Empire.
More practically, how is Rarity going to design and sew enough dresses to fill 3 stores?
