I'm utterly stuck, help needed! · 3:05pm Mar 20th, 2016

Well, that's not the only reason there hasn't been a new chapter of Under The Northern Lights for half a year, but it's the one I can do something about. I know the basic actions of the chapter, but it's an action-heavy one, and I hate writing that. I dearly need someone to toss my ideas at, and so forth, to get going with the siege of Sarvvik, the third to last chapter of the fic, if my calculations are correct...

I can offer you absolutely nothing but my eternal gratitude and a coffee if you ever come to northern Sweden, though you could always get to name an extra in the story if you want...

Again: HAAAAALP...

You just want a bouncing board for ideas? Someone for you to explain things and to ask questions about the story?

... Alright. I'm down with that, if there are no other volunteers yet.

If radicalDishonesty doesn't work then I'll assist,

I'm usually pretty good when it comes to bouncing ideas, so you may consider me if it doesn't matter that I haven't been reading Under the Northern Lights.

Thanks - the more the merrier. To be frank, it's also that if I ask someone to comment on the pitiful little I have done, it becomes mroe important for me to get off my ass and WORK at it... :/

I'll message you each with the link to google drive document and a few questions - anyone else is interested, please tell me as well...

I'll be happy to have you throw ideas to.Just be sure to throw it out to me.

I charge nothing
I take credit for nothing.:)

I'll throw my hat into the ring, if you're still looking for "sounding boards".

Happy to lend a hand also.

If it's opinions you want, I have as many as most people.

I too am interested! Very interested. :trixieshiftleft::trixieshiftright:

RL hit me with an arrow to the knee today, so my response might be a little slow, but...
here's a link to Google Drive: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ccDQez_kfXKCz6fKEoIfnkKKWiAkVg2txP58-VkvasE/edit

I wrote some questions at the beginning of the document. I'm mostly blathering...

3818829 I've discovered that google docs insists on using my real name, so for security's sake I can't post any comments there. Others have covered the important bits though, so doing without my input won't hurt you altogether greatly.

I can point out one trivial thing, though. The word "decimate" means to kill every tenth member of a group. I get the feeling that your protagonists had achieved a larger than 10% reduction in the enemy forces.

Too bad - thanks anyway!
I meant "decimate" in the colloquial sense, but... ;)

3820004 I have that problem as well; my fix was to create a secondary gmail account and do the majority of my editing/sharing through that.

3820797 Are you still in need of assistance at all? Under the Northern Lights... basically got me into the fandom, so.

I've just not been able to get by thumb out of my behind and sit down and write. Truth to tell, I've basically lost all interest in the fandom, but I didn't think it'd be this bad... :(

3967831 Ouch! Well, I can certainly understand burn out. It's a magnificent story that stands on its own in a fantastic way, and I hope you come back to it some day; if you do and you still need/want prereaders/idea soundboards, I'd love to assist, and for now, I hope whatever else you do brings you joy. :)

Thank you. In my own weird way, it would actually be somewhat detrimental to my mental health NOT to finish it, but...

3968816 Oh, lord, perfectionistic/completionist urges? You have even more of my sympathies there. @.@ Familiar ones at that.

3968831
No, its more that it started as a bit of therapy after a serious depression. For various reasons having to do with my treatment, one thing I tried to do was undertaking a big, creative project, and *follow it through*.

Hence a fanfiction that grew too big.

3968842 I see! Well, you've certainly followed through pretty big time. Not being a therapist, I can't possibly judge, but I'd like to think that trying to push against your own blocks on it would be counterproductive. I suppose I'm biased in that I really would love to see the fic completed, but I think authorial sanity comes before reader satisfaction. :)

3968863
Well, for my self-image it would be better to finish it. I think I actually care more about that than about you readers... sorry!
