Ugh, dammit. · 10:55pm Mar 16th, 2016
I still do not have a confirmed start date for my job. I have even emailed and asked them (politely) what the hold up is and I've had no reply.
The uncertainty is beginning to make me feel anxious and depressed, and the only way I've kept my mind off it is by writing tons of MLP fanfic. Now I need to focus on life a bit more.
Honestly, I feel like I'm being dicked around by the bureaucracy of this place, and while it would be nice to have the chance to just say "sod it" and walk away, jobs in my field are super hard to come by, so I'd rather not. However, the longer they make me wait the more my funds dwindle. Plus I have a bigger and bigger gap on my CV between jobs. I may have to look at trying to get some data entry temp work or something.
Ugh, trying so hard not to sink into depression.
I hate it when someone offers you a position and they lead you around rather than being upfront or give you the silent treatment. Though you are upset think of it this way. If they can't be upfront or at least communicate then it's not the right place for you.
3811709 Don't have much choice at this point I'm afraid. It's either take this or work in admin to pay the bills or go hungry. It's only a 9 month contract at any rate so it's not like I'd be bound to it forever. I do want the job, I just hate being dicked around.

Only wait for as long as you can manage, but you need to take care of yourself. If it gets to the point where you can't sustain yourself then consider looking around.
Be well
3811959 I understand and I am mad that them for playing games with you as well.
3811996 I absolutely agree with you 100% percent and I had to do that two and a half years ago when the owner of the business acted shady and kept telling me not to go in.

Thanks. Trying very very hard not to sink into depression. Also, it's amazing that no matter how old you get (I'm in my mid thirties) you still feel like you're disappointing your parents. :(

Glad you got out when you did

3813148 This can still be true no matter what you're doing and/or how straight-laced you may appear. Makes me hope I can do better with my own kids, but considering that there have been however many generations of humans and it's still a thing, who knows?
Also, why are some employers just jerks? I wish they weren't. If you do end up taking a temp gig, it will probably feel like a massive step backwards, but it isn't necessarily. Sometimes it's all you can really do.
It was bad.
1. The owner and I discussed my duties from day 1 and never got around to helping me. Instead she talked on her phone all the time
2. She started texting me and telling me "We are not meeting to today thank you," without giving me a reason.
3. She wanted to borrow something of mine and I felt uncomfortable about following suit.
