    an update

Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been taking an extended break from FimFiction lately. Had some undesirable interactions with some users. That coupled with some of my creative frustrations just makes logging on... kind of unpleasant? If I do log on, it's usually to try and catch up with the fics I'm reading and then I quickly log off. I'm just feeling drained with the MLP fanfic

It was my birthday yesterday! I'd meant to post the day of, but honestly, I was so tired and busy I just didn't have much time or energy to sit at my computer. Wanna hear a funny story or two, plus see the new playlist I made for Sassaflash? Get it after the jump!

    ponies fix everything

New chapter for What They Hope to Find is out! I talk about what's next after the jump, but before that, a quick anecdote:

Last night, my family was having trouble finding something to watch together. My nine-year-old son didn't have any ideas, but he pretty much shot down every suggestion we had. Eventually, out of frustration and half-serious, I say, "Let's just watch ponies."

    Jinglemas! And Rarijack!

I'm participating in this year's Jinglemas! It's a cute fic exchange that happens every year. I requested a rare pair ship, three guesses which. :twilightsheepish: Today is the last day to join, so if you want in on it, be sure to read over the rules and PM Shakespearicles!

More Ponies in Second Life · 6:57pm Mar 15th, 2016

So I thought it'd be fun to chronicle some of my experiences exploring the MLP community in the virtual world of Second Life as there doesn't seem to be much talk about it here on this site. I show two more MLP sims, my new pony avatar, and some cool examples of mods for pony avatars. Check out the screenshots below!

This is Ponyvale, one of the first MLP sims I found. To the left you can see some player-run shops where mods and accessories are sold for pony avatars. To the right is the town hall, where a theater is set up for a 24/7 MLP stream. (Still haven't figured out how to make it work, personally.)

Inside the town hall of Ponyvale. That wall art of RD and FS is creepy enough, but move closer to it, and their eyes snap onto you. *shivers*

This is the starting area for the adult medieval MLP sim called Stillwood. It's pretty amazing.

Stillwood, just outside of the market area.

Stillwood's tavern. Isn't this awesome!?

Here's some more of Trotsdale, which I showed briefly in my last Second Life blog. I didn't realize it, but there's a whole RP area set aside that's apparently a recreation of Ponyville! I could only go in there if I tagged myself OOC (out of character), but I didn't feel like it. I was shopping for pony avatar stuff. :rainbowkiss:

While shopping in Trotsdale, I came across a vendor (to the left) and a fellow shopper (to the right). They helped me make the final decision on which pony avatar to start with, and showed off some of the different pony avatars they owned.

I liked this player's Princess Cadence, but she needed to be taller IMO since she's supposed to be an alicorn...

Whilst shopping, I came across some Fallout Equestria accessories, weapons, and outfits! I think I recall seeing a FoE sim in the Second Life listings, but I haven't visited it yet.

This FoE power armor had me drooling...

Well after some shopping and research, I settled on getting the Equestria Pride pony avatar, as it's the most supported by creators with mods and accessories. You can choose your gender (or be unisex), and your pony tribe (earth, pegasus, or unicorn). It comes with its own animations, facial expression HUD, and color HUD. You can add your own custom cutie mark, but I still have to get one made, so I have the generic cutie mark from the box. This is what I looked like before applying any changes, mods, or clothes. I used the sandbox at Ponyvale.

Here's what I looked like after changing my body color, cel-shade color, mane, and clothes. The hoodie I bought, but I'm still trying to figure out how to change the color. I also want to change the hair color. I'm looking into possible getting some other mods. I've found mods that add gradients, fluffy legs, and change your eyes. The pony doll in my avatar's mouth was free at the Ponyvale starting area.

My pony avatar is boring and unattractive right now, but I'm hoping to keep working on her. I want to have several versions--maybe an FoE version, a "normal" urban pony, and a "rave" pony (for when I go to furry-friendly clubs). Once I have my avatar sorted out, I was going to give roleplaying a go. I've always been intimidated by Second Life RPs--they often have a steep learning curve because they use complex RP HUDS and tools, but it seems like MLP RPs are much more simple and straightforward.

More to come when I have time!
