New chapter this weekend (hopefully) · 5:10am Mar 4th, 2016
I'm hoping to have the next chapter done by the end of Sunday. (Pacific Standard Time) I've pretty much given up on it ever being good, so hopefully it will be presentable enough to keep hope alive.
On the plus side, after this is finally over, the real story begins. Kinda. Sorta. It's complicated.
I wouldn't worry about that too much. It's just one of those curses that many an author has to struggle with. We spend so much time on it that we tend to become overly aware of every little flaw in ways that most of our reading audience will probablably never even notice.
Sometimes "giving up" is the most important step in finishing, because otherwise we might just keep revising and re-revising, forever chasing an impossible perfection.
If I may say so, I think you might be being a bit too hard on yourself. I love your work, and this story in particular. But, I can certainly understand the constant nagging feeling that nothing one does is ever good enough. It's the cross to bear of writing things for public consumption while either being a perfectionist or not having a lot of self-confidence. Or both.
It's hard to stop caring, but sometimes it's what we must do, otherwise we get trapped in a cycle and nothing gets accomplished. Detachment can be your friend.
I'm looking forward to the new chapter, and I'm certain it'll be just fine.
If you think it's not good, then make it fun. Make it the story you want to write knowing it's not perfect.
As for your watchers, they want to read it because it's fun, cute, and emotional. In that order.
Keep up the good work, and don't put too much pressure on yourself! You've been doing great!
