    Black Feather Project Update

The last month has been pretty crazy. My dog got a massive bladder infection and I had to spend $2000 on vet bills to get an ultrasound and all the nonsense that goes with that, all to get a prescription for $30 worth of medicine to fix the situation. Been kinda busy with that as well as upcoming holiday planning, etc.

    One more rewritten chapter

    Hey everyone.

Well, that last chapter took 3 weeks of hard work, mostly design, but nobody has commented on it so I can't tell how anyone feels about the story so far. I'm hoping people can share their thoughts because it helps me to know how the story is being received.

    More new characters

I've recently finished a scene where Dinky gets to know one of the platoon members. I find Dinky's POV to be fascinating to write, though all the Dinky POV scenes will be brand new content (for you old fans out there) because Dinky wasn't previously written into this part of the story. She's a fun character to see the world through. Innocent and naïve, happily venturing into things that

    Sergeant A.Pone

Alright, it's time for a shift of tone.

I had a pretty long chat with Duvet yesterday, and we decided that chapter eleven really does need a thorough rework from the 2018 version. This is the last of what I'd call my "weak writing". Chapters 12-21 are pretty much perfect, so if I can fix 11, this is going to mean great things for the story.

Prologue!! · 10:06pm Mar 2nd, 2016

It's party time!!

Yep, that's right. I've published a chapter today. For real! After nearly a year without officially publishing a chapter, today is the day where I break that silence and once again thrust my story into the public eye (hopefully not poking it out in the process).

What's going on, Recon? Why are you doing this? You said you wouldn't be publishing till it's done.

Well, that's a funny thing. It was actually a random troll which brought it to my attention that my story was "dead". Not willing to hear me out that it was, in fact, in active development, he went on his way after I blocked him and I sat and pondered it for a while. Dead? Well, maybe he had a point in that for a lot of people out there (who apparently have not been paying any attention to my blog or forum) perhaps the story is dead.

So here's the solution: A new publishing plan!

Since the "last modified" date matters to people to know that the story is, in fact, still alive, I've decided to resume publishing. But the fact remains that this story is the kind of story which is developed as a whole, with lots of retroactive editing of older chapters as things develop... I still can't "publish as I go". That's just not a good idea because it forces everyone to reread the entire story every time retro edits take place. Plus, editing takes a long time and I'd rather dive ahead with drafting for a while to get the foundation actually written. I'm currently about 80% done with act one if that's any indication.

The current plan will be to publish one chapter every three months. It's an arbitrary number that allows me to keep working hard on the story while not letting it wither on the vine as far as fimfiction is concerned. Since I have ten chapters (eleven counting the prologue) pretty much finished, this gives me plenty of material to publish over the next year or so while I work on finishing the whole story (which will probably have somewhere around 45 chapters rough guess).

Anyway, it's definitely a milestone here, because today, I'm breaking silence to the general public again and letting them know that the story exists. The prologue itself has undergone heavy editing in the past couple weeks by my crack team of development experts. I can't thank them enough for their help! Especially Questionable who has proven to be a simply amazing team member, having joined us only recently.
