This person is amazing! · 1:34am Mar 2nd, 2016

I went back onto Metacritic only to see Fire Emblem Fates' overall score being butchered by little children who couldn't deal with a bit of NoA censorship and completely ignored the actual, y'know... fucking game.

Then I found this:

When will people realize that giving anything a 0, a 1, or a 2 out of 10 is just irrational? I can understand your disappointment but nothing is ever THAT bad. Some even said it was fun or the gameplay was good and still gave it a 0/10, that makes no sense at all, if at least one part of it was good (the biggest part at that) then it is not a 0/10. Be reasonable people, voice your displeasure but give it a score that reflects what a rational person would do. Giving it a 0 just to spite it means no one will give you the time of day or take you seriously. I had all the same issues as the negative scores but I still gave it a decent rating because the game was fun despite all the drawbacks. If it hadn't been censored I would have given it at least a 7 but the choices made with the games were just as nonsensical as a 0/10 rating.

This cannot become a new thing Nintendo does for all of it's North American releases. Someone said something along the lines of "why can't Nintendo treat us like adults?" and it's because they know how we really act. We don't rationally talk about our disappointment, we curse and throw a fit like a child so in turn they treat us like children. When we stop acting like this and can voice our displeasure like reasonable adults then maybe Nintendo will take us seriously but until that time they will continue to treat us like we're all as old as we act. They will grow up when we do.

That last paragraph actually made me cry a bit. It shows that there are still some sane people in the world. :fluttercry:

My problem with Nintendo of America doesn't lie with them censoring FE: Fates, I think it was kinda dumb mind you, but not a complete deal breaker and I wouldn't take it out on Fire Emblem Fates, certainly. Rather, my problem with NoA lies in several...questionable decisions.

-Somehow deciding from day one that not localizing Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, and the Last Story was a good idea, even with all the consumer demand. The fact that it had to get a petition to get all three localized, don't get me wrong, I'm glad we got the localization and all, but the fact people actually had to petition for it I mean...come on NoA
-The whole Tomodachi Life debacle, not the apology, the apology was expertly handled, but rather the initial statement on how they only wanted to depict 'innocent and whimsical' relationships or something, I don't remember the specifics but honestly, Nintendo of America really should have better clarified they had just patched out a glitch and any decisions about content had to be Nintendo of Japan's decision.
-And the recent issues with Fates, NOT the fact that they censored it, but rather the fact that they communicated things so poorly with the consumer, I mean would it really have taken that much effort to have a PR member print up a list of 'everything we're changing from the Japanese version as well as why?" I know, a little extreme, but the fact that they mentioned cutting content was troublesome to me, (Granted it was a small amount, but without any official clarification or explanation people could get paranoid, though people did react poorly IE check metacritic)

So ultimately, I got nothing against Fire Emblem Fates, or NoA cutting out some content, I just wish it had been communicated to us better as a whole, and I only criticize out of love, lotsa respect towards Reggie and the crew

Okay, random ramblings of KP over now:rainbowlaugh:

Thank you, thank you!

I'll be here all week.

I agree, we need to be reasonable in our assessments of the games and platforms we play. If the game play is good, but the story is crap we should first ask ourselves what kind of game it is then rate accordingly. A story driven game that's light on story, but heavy on action probably should go back to the drawing board or change genres. If the story is fun, the game play is decent, but the controls clunky then give it the proper rating. The only time a game should have a 0 or 1 rating on a ten point scale is if everything just sucks. I can understand frustration with camera angles, but that doesn't mean you have to throw a hissy fit because one of the cut scenes is at an angle where it looks like you're watching it from below someone's crotch (it is probably a enough to justify a 2 star rating). Look at the game objectively before you decide throw a fit, then make sure you condense all that rage into your gripes in the review.

If only we weren't all children... :raritycry:

That was long... :rainbowderp:

Thankfully, I see where you're coming from.

Yes, agree.

Agree?

Agree.

I felt I had to make it long in order to convey the point, if I went with short I thought that might make it seem as though I was ranting without reason, so I hope the longer post made for a more convincing argument.

And thank you very much:twilightsmile:

This man right here, ladies and gentlemen. This man should be a reviewer. :rainbowdetermined2:

I try my best when it comes to my reviews, pointing out the flaws and weaknesses of each and every game. I have been TRAINED on reviewing games, but when it all comes together, that doesn't matter. It's all about personal experience and fairness. These Metacritic people usually have the personal experience part down... but not the fairness.
