The Nature of Magic (Part 6) · 2:29pm Feb 11th, 2016
This is the last of the Major fields of magic here.
Mind magic is one of the more powerful and dangerous fields of magic. While Mind magic can read peoples thoughts and memories, alter and corrupt personalities, and even control people among other things dealing with the mind that should make forbidden, it has found its usefulness with treating patients who have severe mental health problems thus making it highly restricted. With that being said, only use mind magic with extreme caution and only as a last resort. The magic of this field has the potential to cause insanity, paralysis, memory lost, coma, and possibly even death if not handle correctly. Now I believe that Princess Luna’s Dream magic is part of this field of magic but don’t ask me how mind magic works as this is an uncertain field.
Time magic is a dangerous field to play with, as it has a tendency to create paradoxes. It wasn’t until a unicorn named Star Swirl the Bearded created the first time travel spells that the field of time magic got recognized. Trying to change the past can and will often create timelines that may not be desirable because distractions to the timeline would unbalance the world with their cascading effect. The only safe way to use time-magic is to observe the past to learn from past mistakes.
Teleportation magic is actually a subcategory of space-time magic that includes time magic. Time and space are so closely related that the two fields of magic are considered to be the same.
The danger of teleportation is that if you don’t make the correct calculations, you could get hurt or killed. It is possible to create safety features in these spells to prevent such possibilities. Feeling out the space you want to teleport to before actually teleporting is advisable. You don’t want to experience butterflies in your stomach in the literal kind of way.
Please let me know what you Think. And Thanks to Bad Dragon for Helping me on this section.
Sorry that I wasn't able to help yesterday; I had choir practice.
Anyway, in my headcanon, teleportation works by replacing the matter that you teleport into with 'you'. Because the matter has to go somewhere, it invokes E=MC^2 and becomes energy. Obviously, teleporting into a massive fireball would be bad for your health, so the caster temporarily absorbs the energy then recreates it into air somewhere else. Because of this, if the caster didn't time the casting of the spell and releasing of the absorbed energy correctly, it can leave them with severe magical backlash. What's more is that solids and liquids are a lot denser with than air, and thus more energy. That means that teleporting into water is only a feat that the most accomplished in magic can do.
The space they teleported from then becomes a void. Since air completely fills its 'container', it rushes into the void creating a 'pop'(or a 'bang' depending on the size of the caster).
Teleportation 'pads' working on a slightly different principle, 'swapping' the space between them.
This eliminates the need for absorbing magical backlash. However, you have to fully be on the pad, otherwise, you might lose an appendage or two.
I know that it's not how it's technically how it's supposed to work but, the teleportation as a cloning magic, or the matter of clones from an alternate timeline disintegrating or fading as a result of altering the time line always bothered be. Ideally the clone would be an original with two sets of memories from the alternate timeline. I kind of feel dreams are God's version play therapy, I hesitate to suggest my dreams are lucid and that there are levels of dream space as I don't know if that is entirely accurate, but I know dying in your dream doesn't equal death in real life. Then again I've been dying by dreams since childhood and well before I learned of Freddy Kruger. Decapitation, drowning, car accidents, elevator action, electrocution, trying to look directly at the darkness, suffocation, etc. are not pleasant. And, while alien abduction and zombie dreams are kind of fun, I can't help but feel retarded in my dreams... And, when I make that statement, I mean that in my dreams I literally have the emotional dysregulation, ego strength, and competence of a child. I know this because I can evaluate my actions after the fact especially when I think about the dreams I can remember.
Being able to manipulate the environment (as in wind, rain, fire, lighting {haven't tried earth}) but not the content isn't exactly one of my favorite things, and when I do get the opportunity to manipulate content the corruption makes it more desirable to complete, follow through, or give into the darkness so that it doesn't preoccupy the mind longer than it takes to relieve distress, complete the act of self harm/mutilation, or provoke whatever feelings of guilt, ridicule, humiliation and shame my body needs to function without expressing my anger consciously or directing it towards others in the physical realm. Although I have noticed I get colder emotionally as I get older, I'm pretty sure dysphoria, automatic negative thoughts, and compassion fatigue are natural if not normal human responses to surviving social isolation and/or violence.
Hello
I've got a story idea in the works that pertains to how magic works, particularly unicorn magic (illumination, levitation, etc.) and how it is performed. I need help figuring out how to explain how it works, so If you'd like to help, please PM me for the full story synopsis.
Thanks
