Counterpart: Playable Early Access
So here's the thing: I will be able to do at least one chapter a month. But so long as I've written a video game and put weeks of work into it and put it on Steam Greenlight, I'm pretty much compelled to try and follow through with it. It's that 'finishing things I start' thing, and you know how I am about that.
And the thing is, Greenlight is fizzling because I'm not a known developer and can't get press coverage. The first weekend was amazing, and then bleh: people aren't hearing about this, partly because they can only see screen captures and don't get to play it for themselves.
So, while I'm dealing with a lot of other things (many of which will have finished up by the middle of next week), let's fix that problem!
Go to the link at the top. It's got complete current builds of Counterpart for Windows, Mac and Linux, in both 32 and 64 bit. Play them, and if it seems like a game to you, get people to vote it up on Steam Greenlight, so I can afford to write ponies again.
There is no doubt about that: the story is worked out, outlined to the last chapter, and this is not a 'no inspiration' thing, or not being able to think of more story. That's not the problem. I just can't afford the time to write it because I'm scrambling for money to cover bills this month and next, and the swerve into game-making has hit a roadblock NOT of my making and taken up a huge amount of my time.
But at least I can show what I'm talking about. This ought to make the point
Aight.

Hmm.
On the one hand, I have been pretty much off Early Access since Starbound.
On the other, it is you....
3736061 You might want to wait as I may have to relaunch the Greenlight campaign.
As near as I can tell, no votes on Greenlight do matter a great deal: they say it doesn't affect the Greenlight score but my experience suggests that they show people your game more if the yes/no ratio is more yes-oriented, even if it's casual and disengaged yeses. What I get with Counterpart is that some people are really excited and a lot are like 'lol nope' and do a no vote. The weight of those stops the Greenlight from ever being shown to anybody browsing Greenlight, and it dies. All the yes votes were in the first two days when people could see it.
As for early access, it's not exactly that. I'm just making the game available on my website so people can see it and play it. So it doesn't really count as early access since you're not paying anything :)
