Posting a story · 5:30pm Aug 22nd, 2012
I have a theory about the things that get you views for a story that you post (And this is for a good story that has the rare grammar mistake and is well written).
The most major thing that gets you views is the picture, cause if its a boring picture then most people will pass over the story without even reading the discription, but if it is too over the top they will think that you are inexperienced, and wont wana waste their time reading it.
The second most important thing is the time of day you submit your story, but thats hard to figure out. Depending on how many stories are sumited by everyone, getting a story posted on the main page, could take anywere between an hour and six hours. And if you do post during a time where many people are putting out stories then your story will be off the main page in like two hours. For the most views posible, you wana post your story during a time around 3:00 to about 10:00. But it's harder to hit that mark then you think (also depends on howmany people are posting). If you do it too early, there wont be anyone on to read it, but if you do it too late, there wont be anyone wanting to read it cause they are going to bed..
The third is the discription itself.
The forth is more of a luck thing. If you post your story and the wrong time and it ends up next to a more interesting looking story, then guess who is skipped over.
Unfortunately I had two of these problems happen to me with my last story. I posted it way to early and it came out before 12:00, I also had the bad luck of having someone post a more interesting story than mine. What would you read? An all OC story about a young gryphoness looking for Gilda, or a story where Angel starts a revlution against Fluttershy.
