If you didn't guess by the title, I'm looking for your OCs. You know...to borrow for the fic For The Fatherland. I'm specifically looking for unicorn OCs at the moment, but if you have earth pony or pegasi OCs, you can submit those as well. Just put a comment below with a description of your OC, and I'll let you know if I include it, as well as credit it in the chapter description for what chapter they appear in. Thank you for your help guys, and Chapter 6 should be done by either Thursday or Friday
my OCs name is Dusty Tome, and is a military historian. he is a red unicorn with a black main and tail. he also has a French accent
Name: Trom
Earth Pony male.
Dark red coat.
Short, shaggy, dark brown mane with a white streak running through it.
Fairly large build, similar to Big Mac but a tad smaller.
Good with heavy lifting and brute force, did a lot of odd-jobs that needed it.
Cutie mark is, oddly, a warhammer, even though he's never officially fought but has been in a few brawls or scuffles.
Has a very noticable Irish accent.
Name: Arnhem
Boer: Earth Pony/Zebra Hybrid.
Mage Class: 3 (Magic Potential based on Starswirl's Thaumatological Scale, Graded in ascending order from 1-7 with 7 being the Highest achievable for Unicorns and 4 being the average.)
Coat: Bluish Silver with faint Zebra stripes with black hooves.
Mane: Similar to Shining Armour but a dull gold.
Build: again, similar to Shining Armour but a few inches shorter.
Specialises in Warding and Rune based Magic, leaning to a talent for sabotage and traps.
Cutie Mark: a transparent Blue Heater shield with a Sword and Staff crossed behind it.
South African Accent.
Boers: Descendants of displaced Earth Ponies and Zebra, the Earth Ponies were forced off their lands by Unicorn Nobles seeking to profit from their regions natural resources and had no intention of losing any profit to Earth Ponies.
Forced into a nomadic lifestyle, the Earth Ponies wandered all over Equestria before settling far to the south of Equestria's borders in two large plains between the Macintosh Hills and the Palomino Desert divided by the Cambray River. Initially left alone by the Nobles, the discovery of large Octiron deposits, valuable both as a raw materiel and used for enchanting, drew greedy eyes to the largely untamed southern lands. The Nobles presented a case for invasion (manufactured, naturally) and funded the formation of an army, lead by one of their own (Blueblood's ancestor).
The Cambrayen Free State and the Traansaddle Republic, possessing only small professional forces, no aerial forces and limited Magic users were forced to use unconventional tactics to fight the invaders.
Frustrated and angry after several months hard marching, constant harassment, and numerous traps and ambushes, the Royal Army rounded up the Boer civilians of the first town they find, throw them in a prison camp and burn the town to the ground.
With each town captured the camps become increasingly crowded with no effort to improve conditions, leading to many unnecessary deaths from starvation and disease.
With the toll mounting in the camps, the Boers conceive a plan to trap and neutralise the Equestrian Army, feigning a large scale attack, the Equestrians are lured into the Canneigh valley, where the full strength of the Republics await. The Equestrians take the bait and charge into the valley only to be trapped by landslides triggered by the Boers and area of effect spells negating Magic and preventing the Pegasi from flying higher than thirty feet.
The Equestrian General is given an ultimatum, his troops are to disarm and be escorted back to Equestria or be annihaliated, faced with destruction the General surrenders.
Afterward a Peace Treaty is signed but the Boers keep a wary eye to the North, quietly preparing for war after Celestia disappears and sending Commando teams to investigate their old adversaries, one of these teams discovers the Camps and, remembering the horrors of the past, plan a jail break.
You should really look into creating new characters as needed rather than asking others for OC's, and while it's a good way to get a pseudo-form of recognition from you to the readers, in many cases other people's OC's can be very hard to cater to. Most of the time in stories the extra's play a minor role and don't need a backstory or much description, so it's usually fine coming up with something on the spot. Even for OC's that for a particular story stick around a while shouldn't be other peoples OC's for fear of not doing them justice. People may not appreciate their OC's being used in a particular way*, and you would need to consult them on their personalities far too much to be practical. This all ties into the fanfiction topic of self-insertion which one should avoid. No matter how awesome an OC is it probably isn't the best route to go, because creating extras on the spot gives you complete control to develop the character over the course of the story rather than relying on a preset base that you then just need to insert.
*Especially in a story where unicorns are the equivalent to nazi's.
