New royal baby spoilers ahoy. You have been warned.
OMG. I knew "Skyla" felt wrong. But if the Germans are to be believed, it's "Flurry Heart," which is perfect despite the fact that it makes her sound like a Care Bear Cousin. This is exactly the thing Cady and Shiny would name a baby. YMMV, of course. And from my headcanonical perspective, they've named her in honor of her grandfather, the Snow King, which is amazingly but perfectly sentimental. I could have lived with "Skyla" but this is much better. No word on if congenital alicornism is confirmed, but she's a unicorn at least.
And the fandom is already calling her "Princess McFlurry, I see.

I initially misread it as "Flutter Heart" and was surprised they were going to name her so close to Fluttershy, then I saw the McFlurry jokes and reread the name. Ooops.
But I like it, the actual name, not the McFlurry Jokes.
I heard somewhere that her name might be closer translated to 'Snowheart' actually, but we'll see.
No word on whether she's a unicorn or alicorn, though, just that she has a horn.
I have the feeling when we see her, she's going to spend the whole episode's scenes wrapped up in blankets so we can't tell.

I'm really not sure how to feel about this revelation. When I first saw the spoilers on Equestria Daily, my reaction was basically "Um, that's... a name? I guess?" I'm staunchly neutral. Like, beige alert neutral.

"Snowheart" has apparently been used as a name in merchandise, but for a different pony. Take that for what it's worth.

But seriously, I would have preferred her to be a pegasus or earth pony. (Probably a pegasus, since Cadance used to be a pegasus.) One, there aren't enough mixed-race families in this show. In fact I think so far there's a grand total of one. Two, the unicorns are already way over-represented among the ruling class.
Unless she's born an alicorn, of course.

I think the name is kind of cute, although I would like to see the first part of it be a casual name or nickname, like Cadance, and there be a grandiose "Mi Amore Cadenza" version as well.
I think that Hasbro won't pass up the chance to have a new canon Alicorn... I mostly wonder if she will be all "Crystally" or not. I'm also still holding out hope for a twin brother who doesn't have a toy to announce yet, but they may have used that option up with he cake twins.

Maybe saying Google Translate wasn't the best way to sum up what I mean. Words and phrases sound different (and have different connotations) in ways that don't bridge language barriers. I don't speak German, so I have no idea what that name sounds like (both in the phonic and cultural senses). That's why I suggested that the English version might be different… but I'm just speculating

At any rate I reckon it sounds better than flurry heart.
I remember some rumor from a source I can't find again, that Princess Skyla was intended to be a baby Cadance doll, not a new character, which explains why they had the same coloring. the name was changed to Skyla for some weird personal reason (named after some executive's daughter, or something).

Why not Resonance, after the resonator model of steel-string guitars that gives it its unique... Cadance? Also sounds like a pony name.
In that theme, I'd also elect: Sapele (A beautiful wood for steel-stringed instruments) -- Sapele Resonance sounding both pony and alliterative come to think -- Pizzicato (The practice of plucking a stringed instruments with your fingertips), Plectrum (The technical name for a guitar pick)...
How about Arpeggio or Tremolo or Estudio -- especially if she's going to be like Twilight -- for a more musical Italian name?
That's all just off the top of my head too.
EDIT: Yes, most of these aren't that good, but I cannot stand the name being put forth at the moment. It's just so incredibly bad and lazy and it hits my ear all wrong. There's no rhyme or rhythm to it, the words don't mean anything together... bah and humbug.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like it musically. It doesn't flow at all. But as for the actual in-character choice of the name, it coheres exactly with what those two would name a kid, which is a separate (and actually from my perspective a more important) success criterion from what I personally consider to be a pretty name. If that's clear.
