Okay, you all deserve an update on where the stuff is I half-promised back in October.
End of term got pretty crazy for me - crazier than expected - and one of my classes I only barely passed. Stress about that kept me away from both my writing and art for the most part. Took the first week or so of break just to de-stress, and then it worked out for me to spend most of the rest of the break with family. Our family is very close and time with them is extremely important to me, so that took precedence over creating for my internet fans... Got back from visit with sister in Florida yesterday (first visit down there since 2009) and finally ready to kick things into gear again.
Only problem left: I left my laptop with all my notes and outlines on it in Florida when I drove back... Bro-in-law is shipping it to me, but it'll be at least a few days before I have it on hand. Might do some art to kill time till it gets here.
So where does that leave my stories? Well, I wasn't completely unproductive that entire time. The Pony of Shadows story I mentioned did get three different outlines written up to see which I liked the best. Answer was the one that had the largest deviation from canon. That means that story will have to wait because it's now going to be part of a much larger work that explores an AU where some different things happened or some of the stuff that did happen happened differently. I've got outlines started for that and the actual story won't start showing up here till I have at least a rough outline from the start to the end since I don't want to have the story die off when I hit a point and go "shit, now what?"
You all may have noticed that a chapter did get added to Approaches to Preening since my last blog. There are two reasons I switched it to Incomplete when I did that: (1) There will be a short chapter added to the end that's primarily dialog between Luna and Twilight. Nothing heavy and it's already basically done, but I haven't put it up yet because... (2) I'm re-working the three chapters that are already up. Reading back through them with some time between me and when I wrote them it's easy to see how bare-bones and somewhat rushed they are. A lot of what I visualized in my mind didn't make it into the words because what I wrote was enough to help me see the image, but doesn't flesh it out as well if you can't see into my head. So, going to fix that.
Sequel to Falling Leaves: This is actually my biggest priority for getting up other than the revised and completed Approaches story. It's also the one I've done the least prep work on thus far. Going to do my best to get first chapter of sequel up by end of month. Big question I have for all of you is: would some shipping in the series be welcome or unwelcome? Because there's some that would happen very easily if I don't watch myself. Nothing steamy, just a bit of romance. Wouldn't Sunset and Fluttershy make a cute couple? 
Shorts: On hold for now. I don't want too much on my plate since I've already got a few big projects to focus on. Shorts that happen will just be the ones that occur spontaneously and probably won't be anything big or highly edited.

I usually don't mind shipping, so long as it makes sense in the context of the story, so in theory I'd be fine with it. (That said, if romance is not the main point of the story, then try not to let the romance dominate the plot too much. It annoys me when a story initially presents itself as one kind of story, only to switch gears halfway through.)
