The Wandering Bard

"I am a singer, a poet, a musician, a storyteller. I am a bard at heart. That is who I am. That is what I shall always be." (Icon by atokota on FurAffinity)

    Some OC Questions

Hey, all! This is a meme by gilgamemesh I've seen around Tumblr, and since I haven't gotten any asks about it there, I thought I'd post it here! Here's how it works: pick a number or multiple numbers from the list, post it/them in the comments, and in about a week or so (depending on how many asks I get), I'll post a follow-up blog about it! And if two people ask about the same number, that's

Good News! · 1:35am Jan 9th, 2016

Hey there, fillies and gentlecolts! As the blog title suggests, I have some good news to share!

After I posted about needing to step away from my latest Lyric story, I hadn't been able to write. I had no motivation for it. I was being creative in other ways, such as my dramatic readings. However, the writing bug was eluding me.

Until now.

Well, not really now. A few nights ago, actually. But gosh darnit, did it feel good! I think it's been about or over a month since I was last able to get anything down. But after the holiday weekend, I felt the urge once more. I quickly lost it again one night, but I was determined not to let that happen on the next. I pulled out my laptop and got to work. Once again, the words easily came to me. They flowed!

And then they stopped. Or they almost did. I could feel myself losing focus. Yet instead of dropping it for the night as I usually would have done, I kept pushing on. I wanted to get this story out. I had to. I felt like I was on a roll and I didn't want to lose that by logging off and trying again the next day. So while I was still distracted, I kept forcing myself to return, to keep going. And finally, in the wee hours of the morning, it was done. I felt so accomplished because I had finally written something after what felt like a long time. So with that feeling, I shut everything down and went to bed.

Of course, the revision process came next. As I always do, I spent the next day or two going over everything with a fine-toothed comb, catching everything that I could. And when I had it in a place that I liked, I sent it off to my good friend Reneigh Haycart. Hay showed me yet again just why having an editor is such an amazing thing. He caught all kinds of things that I never would have even seen or thought of, and really helped me to think deeper about the story and just what I was trying to convey. Seriously, Hay, you were awesome, you did a fantastic job, and I cannot thank you enough!

At this moment, I'm showing it to a few more friends before I publish it. I want to get a few more opinions on it before releasing it because I want to be sure that it is as quality a piece as it can be at this time. This is the first story I have written without Lyric in it, yet it is one whose concept is near and dear to my heart. For so many reasons. I'll explain why at a later time so as not to ruin any of the surprise. But for now, I want to thank you all for sticking around for this long, and I hope you all enjoy the latest piece from this humble bard.

Cheers!
