Trials of a Royal Guard Physical Print

    Hello everyone!

It has been quite some time since anyone has heard from Crystal and me. I wanted to briefly interrupt the silence let those fans left know that they will soon be able to complete their 'Royal Guard Trilogy' physical collection.

    Secrets Hardcovers Wave 2 Update

    Hi all!

We have the hard covers here at the house. Due to some unexpected work travel I haven't had the chance to get to them. Crystal and I are going to clear some time out tonight to get them signed and packaged. I hope to actually have them out the door tomorrow or Monday.

    Thank you for your patience!

Cleaning out the game room: Free/PWYW Items

    Pony pals

I am cleaning up my game room and that is producing a lot of items that we simply don't play. Old, new, never opened, etc. The point is, they need to go and I'm not looking to recoup much money on this.

Memoirs of a Royal Guard 2nd Edition and Physical Printing

I'm about halfway through the MoaRG 2nd edition. I've been making some tweaks here and there to tie it better to the stories that follow it without damaging what was originally written. I'm not George Lucas!

Once I'm done it will go through editing and, potentially, professional editing. I've got a wonderful woman I worked with on my non-fiction published works who is overly excited to read my pony fan fiction. That comes down to your interest, though. Her quote was polite but pretty high for a non-profit endeavor. Not that she isn't worth it! It just might not be something I can do on a "for cost project just for fans."

With that said, I'm trying to get down to some real numbers to gauge interest. I will be doing a single run of only one type. Meaning I'll do hardcovers, softcovers, but not both. If you'd like to know the estimates please check out my Transparency Spreadsheet. This way you know exactly the costs and where the money is going.

I need to get a rough headcount of who would absolutely be interested in having a book based on those estimates. Feel free to comment below.

Ask Us 1/8/16

Shachza asked:

I know Silent is a bit of a special case given his position, but is there actually a tradition among alicorns of avoiding intimacy, whether explicitly stated or simply heavily impressed?

Malinovka asked:

Tick ticketty tick tock. Ticketty tock tick tick tock. Tick tocking. Tick tickity tick?

Azure Rain asked:

Are your mane and tail colours natural Iridescence?

zyr asked:

Where did you get that tiny sword you used at Silent's wedding?

pertelote345 asked:

I would like to ask Luna on a romantic candle lit dinner. What is the proper procedure for doing so?

zyr asked:

How close would you say you are to your sister in law, Crystal? Because I've never seen you two interact much

**Beert asked:

Hey Dot :) How your first day at school after getting a cutie mark has been?

The Forgotten Comrade asked:

You were a keen military pony, what was your equipment like and how often did you ensure it was in top condition? And did you maintain a set after leaving the military.

So... Han didn't shoot second? :trollestia:

well... i have 2nd print past sins, stairway to equestria and i might get Winning Pony... so i think i have room for another mlp fic on my shelf (well no... but i need more shelfs anyhow:twilightsheepish:)

Definitely down for either a hardcover or paperback, hardcover preferred (I mean, who doesn't love a good solid book and it's really not that much extra).

Add me to your count for a book.

I'd love a hardcover personally but I don't mind a softcover either.

// Sphex

Quantity as in, the general number of books printed right? ...right? Also what's the estimated price range for shipping to EU countries?

wonderful woman ... who is overly excited to read my pony fan fiction

I don't think I've ever heard about a normal person being interested in pony fiction before!

I've never been one for buying a physical book (though I picked up some free ones today!) but I would probably not mind soft-cover for a book. Depends on price, though. If it's not a big jump, I would go hardcover.

Am I reading it wrong or would a hardcover+ shipping be about $30? Sign me up!

3672621 You're just trying to anger the Anzel!

3672643 Shelves are always good!

3672684 Yeah, given the relatively small price difference I'm not sure I'm going to bother trying for the softcovers. A hardcover seems to be the way to go.

3672733 Will do!

3672764 Yeah, I'm really leaning toward hardcover. If we're going to do it, do it all the way!

3672797 Correct, the print run. The more we print the better the discount. In the past, shipping hardcovers outside of the US has been pricey for me. I would say expect to spend $30 shipping to Europe and $50 to APAC. If it comes up less all the better.

3672811 Have I mentioned how happy I was when I saw Hayden Christensen in the redone version of RotJ?

3672804 There doesn't seem to be too big of a jump between the soft and the hard actually. Which is leading me to only doing Hard.

3672810 I think you're a bit off (I know I have a ton of data on the chart for those who are curious). If we can take 60 preorders the lowest the hardcover can go, assuming domestic shipping, looks to be around $40. Now, if the freight to us comes out less and/or the cover costs come out less we might be able to hit the $35 mark.

Well, either that or if we get a ton of people interested. In a fantasy world where we somehow get 120 the price is right around $35 shipped. I just don't see that being reality though.

My guess is we'll have 30 books printed.

i am up for a hardcover if you can ship it to the EU

3672811 Oh, well then. Sign me up! I would prefer softcover but I'm also not against hardcover. I wouldn't mind either of them. Do you have the estimated weight of the book?

on the note of shipping... do take notice "some" *ahem* readers aren't local

3672818 And wasn't the Anakin/Padme romance executed to perfection? :rainbowwild:

3672824
I liked prequels...

Sign me up for 1.

3672821 We absolutely can but it is pricey >_< We've done it before though!

3672822 I only have a total guess by taking two of my previous hardbacks and stacking them together. I'm estimating 2 lbs (.907 Kg) which will probably be heavier but people never mind paying less shipping :)

3672823 Yes indeed. I have been hosed on international shipping before! This is just for estimation purposes though. It is going to be actual shipping vs a "one size fits all." That way some folks will save a little.

3672832 And about the cover art, is it the price for formatting current cover art so it fits the book format nicely or a completely new cover art?

3672836 I don't have an official quote yet. That is just an estimate from past experience. It will be an entirely new cover though.

Hardcover and softcover being practically the same price?! give me hardcover with professional editing thank you!

If you still have room Ill love to have a copy, preferably hardback.

3672855 Oh absolutely. We're moving closer to there but not there yet. I am going to open the pre-order/deposit soon though.

3672843 Yeah, after having done the numbers it is clear the hardcover is the only way!

Luna zapped first.

And you know I'm definitely interested.

I'm interested,

BTW, on the questions, how did I not realize Azu would insist her sword was fun sized, and try to turn it into an insult to my manhood? Also, before I forget again, when you click on Ferrel's tag, you only get Ask Ferrel #2, I assume because #1 doesn't have the Ferrel tag.

3672816
$40 is fine too.

I would be interested! I really liked that story.

Count me in for a copy

Count me in for a hardcover as well.

Can I get my copy autographed by Au? :derpytongue2:

ME! ME! ME! :twilightsheepish:

Forever alone... :applecry:

Possibly not as lonely as Luna if those are the rules for courting her XD

I would also like to throw my hat into the ring for a copy of Memoirs, and this might seem a little too forward-thinking, but I would also vote for a physical copy of Secrets as well.

I would sign up for a copy too! Is there potential for Secrets to go the same way in the future?

Update for those of you that expressed interest! Please see this: http://www.fimfiction.net/blog/586198/memoirs-2e-hardcover-deposits

3679057 If this works out we'll be doing Secrets for sure. We just have to see how this project shakes out!

3678841 Awesome! See above :D We'll probably do Secrets if this works.

3674184 Very much appreciated! Opportunity above!

3673796 See above ^_^

3673692 If you want it autographed by AU we can do that, yes ;)

3673613 Awesome! Please see above.

3673493 Huzzah! Deposit option above.

3673247 Excellent, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Option above for deposit.

3673186 Mucking about with the costs it will be more most likely. Although it highly depends on how many people are interested. We'll know soon! Everyone can make their deposit and back out before February for the final count.

3673155 Deposit option open! Also tee hee on the sword size ;D I'll have Crystal look into ask Ferrel!

3672919 <3

3672892 Huzzah! Deposit option open!

3672855 You now have the opportunity to make a deposit :D

3672843 Much appreciated sir!

3672836 Hope I answered all the questions :D

3672823 We covered this in the Q&A but I wanted you to see! Next Q&A will be much earlier. We'll rotate so folks in other time zones can attend!

3672821 Deposit option available and we'll ship anywhere really :D

3672804 We'll be doing hardcovers only, prices are there on the sheet to give you an idea.

3672764 Hardcover it is ^_^ See above!

3672733 Counted upon! Deposits open!
