Sorry, I'm late... Interesting things are happening! School, has started up again which is fun, and I have taken a step back from everything I am doing and have re-allocated time to each of my projects. In summary... I am going to do more writing and art, and less game design so yay!

That's all I have to say really, my editor still hasn't looked at chapter 3... I'm considering finding a new one and another proofer or two. If anyone has the kindness in their heart (and time, time is important too) to help out with either of those positions, I would be very grateful.

Other than that I have been a bump on a log recently... but we (dun, dun, dun) have come up with some cool Ideas... I need to stop using ellipses... I did it again didn't I? Anyways... (and again) thank you for sticking with me and yes, I am alive! Like always guys:

Flutter on!! :yay:

Weekly Question: What do you want in a role-playing game?
Weekly Report: N/A

What do I want in an RPG?
Whew. Hope you're ready for a bunch of text.
1. A good story. Doesn't have to be new, just done well.
2. Customization such as character/equipment/power appearance, and/or equipment/power effects.
3. A crafting system that isn't overly complicated/boring/tedious (maybe something like a combination of Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar?).
4. Choices that matter. Granted, more RPGs are realizing that players like to have their decisions make an impact, however, a number of them also use linear storytelling which, while easier to work with, offers less of a chance for immersive gameplay. I should note that this is my opinion, and is subject to debate.
4a. Good/Evil system. Star Wars: The Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic, the Mass Effect trilogy, Jade Empire, Fallout 3 (I haven't played the other Fallout games so I don't know about them), the Fable series, Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur, just to name a few examples.
5. Quick-travel as well as mounts/vehicles.
6. Being able to give your character a background that isn't just a wall of text and actually plays a part in the story. I suppose the best example I can give would be a combination of the background character elements from Guild Wars 2 and the Background choices from 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons.
7. No race-based class restrictions. I'm not going to go further into this topic unless asked, since I consider it to be a bit of a frustration.
8. Quests that aren't seemingly repetitive. Examples: Guild Wars 2 and Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur.
9. Ways, in-game, to break away from the game. Examples: the pet-battling system and roly-poly racing game from World of Warcraft.
10. If feasible, more than one way to reach an objective, such as being able talk your way past, fight your way through, or sneak your way around.

Well, I think that covers most of it. Or, at least, the important parts. Sorry about the amount of text, but I really like RPGs.

3665687 How does a game with no story sound? Now before you freak out... it's not entirely devoid of a story. Our plan right now is to have the story tied to a character and have it be bassed off of your choices, steal a bunch of stuff -> get an invitation to a gang of thieves. Take a seed apple to a farmer, 20 years later an army doesn't starve and is able to protect a town from an undead horde.

On top of that a procedurally generated planet (not world, planet) which is 100% destructible. A comprehensive crafting system, no classes (more on this in the next paragraph) and nearly 30 races with a race mixing system. All this along with a procedural loot system which makes every crafted and acquired weapon unique. And actual NPC simulation, so that you are fighting competent sentient creatures with a will to survive, paired with a social network system which actually simulates factions, nations, and groups... Did I mention spell mixing? Did I mention alloy mixing? Did I mention a soul binding system where your weapons grow and become more powerful with you?

As for classes, there will be starting "classes" which ONLY define two things: where you start in a really big interconnected "perk wheel", and what your character's background will be. Since we are dropping you into a living world we can't give you compleat backstory control but we are planning a system which takes your skills, traits, perks, class, and race into account giving you 5-10 options for what your character will start as. An elven warrior could be guarding a sacred relic, while a Neko warrior (Nekos are cat people) could be a mercenary.

Oh and a Homebrew mode where a human being takes the place of the computer running the show in order to create amazing custom stories. And a scripted campaign mode which allows you to share amazing stories with others. All in the vein of the original Table Top RPGs.

Sound cool? I think so... but I'm a bit biased.

3665737 Admittedly, it sounds ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! Then again, I'm also biased :twilightblush:. But seriously, sounds awesome. A few questions:
1. Where can I buy/crowdfund?!
2. What are the graphics similar to?
3. When does it release?
4. Is it a single player, multiplayer, or massively multiplayer online RPG?
As for having no class(es), this sounds more like a combination between Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Path of Exile. Not judging or saying it's bad, just making an observation of similarities. This also sounds like a massive undertaking, and I wish the designers and creators (you and others, I presume?) success in tackling this project, 'cause it sounds awesome :yay:! I not only hope ya'll can do it, I hope you can do it well:raritywink: .

3665936 1) Nowhere, yet...
2) Ark Survival Evolved
3) We have to finish the design, get crowd funding, and get a team together before that question can even begin to be answered.
4) Single player, with drop in LAN support and community hosted servers (think Minecraft's multiplayer support) so all of the above :derpyderp2:

As for the classes, not sure what Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur but yes it is a merge between TES4: Oblivion and Path of Exile. Path of Exile's skill tree is what the Perk Wheel is roughly going to look like. I hope we can do it well as well from a playing perspective I want this to be a game I would dump thousands of hours into... shuffles time log on Roll20 away.

3666536 AAAAAUUGH!!!

Well, now that I've gotten that out of my system, two things:

1. If you would, please let me know when the crowdfunding starts so I can start throwing money at my computer.

2. Kingdoms of Amalur had a skill tree system divided into three categories (stealth, combat, and magic), and depending on what points you put where would give you access to a class title which provided some nifty benefits (going stealth and magic, for example, would eventually unlock the warlock title, enabling you to teleport instead of dodge-rolling and poisoning anything you teleport through).
