    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

Fallout 4: Angel's Pip-Boy Diary #16 · 10:53am Jan 3rd, 2016

art by DgeBuild

It's the first post of a new year, and we're back to our irregular (but frequent) episodes of Angel's Pip-Boy Diary. I hope your new year is treating you well so far.

As always, the diary is below the page break to avoid spoilers. I hope everyone is continuing to enjoy these!

But first, I just have to share a fun New Years video made for the Fallout Equestria community by the talented MrGrayGazer. :rainbowkiss:

Angel's Pip-Boy Diary

Day 34

Day 34 – Morning
November 26, 2287

I feel much better after some sleep. A little more charitable towards Diamond City too.

Valentine must be my first priority, but it can’t hurt to leave Diamond City for a bit. It’ll give things time to shake out and see what becomes of Henry’s and Nelson’s disappearances, plus give the wiser brother a chance to talk sense into Mr. Foolproof Plan.

With laser-like focus on my objective, I spotted a turret in an alleyway and detoured to investigate. What I found was a raiders nest… complete with hung, decapitated heads. Sick bastards. It’s bad enough to prey on people, but do they have to revel in it? I really hate raiders.

Between there and Boston Commons, I encountered more raiders as well as a pack of wild dogs. The most terrifying thing about these brief battles for my life is that they are getting so routine that I almost didn’t bother mentioning them. And the more I think about it, the more I’m sure that there are other fights I haven’t made mention of.

They’re adrenaline-surging, terror-inducing storms of blood and death that threaten to destroy me, and that often leave me with wounds that would have been fatal three centuries ago. But I don’t talk about them because they’re not important fights.

How incredibly horrifying should that be? Worse, I don’t feel horrified. I know that I should.

Reaching Park Street Station, I also came across the start of the Freedom Trail, complete with the “new” robot guide. I’ll look into that later. Laser-like focus.

Day 34 – Afternoon
November 26, 2287

Even by the most extreme of my new life’s standards, today has been an extraordinary day of violence and bloodshed.

I’ve swept through Park Street Station (although “swept may be the wrong word considering that it took me hours), mowing down more people than my mind will allow me to think about. It feels like Skinny Malone has more hired guns than the entire population of Diamond City. Why is that always the case? Why does the population of bad guys always seem so disproportionate?

That “mutation” (or whatever the heck it is) has been especially prevalent down here. One of the “legendary” Triggermen had a truly nice combat shotgun which I believe will become a feature of my arsenal.

Before all the shooting began, I was able to eavesdrop on a few of Malone’s men. Valentine is still alive. And the boss has a new girl who has a reputation for being good with a bat.

I’m taking only a moment to stuff everything I’ve grabbed along the way into a trash bin. I’ll be back for it later, if I survive. I can’t slow down. Now that the gang is under assault, they might do something untoward to Valentine. I’m hoping those farther down assume I’m just a raider or supermutant.

Wow, that tunnel doesn’t look ominous at all.

Park Street Station was closed due to a purchase agreement with Vault-Tec. At the end of all of this is a Vault. I hope I have made swift enough work of the people in the station that I’m sure none of them have gotten to the Vault and given warning. It certainly hasn’t been quiet work. I have used a lot of grenades. I really wish I was a little better with them.

Day 34 – Evening
November 26, 2287

Vault 114 has been interesting.

I have been curious what a proper Vault looked like. When I first read “Vault 114 and its experiment”, I started to question if any of the Vaults were just made to save people. And yet, as much as my blood wants to boil at what they did to so many people, it feels like the mock indignation that I would put on for the sake of judge and jury. Corporations treating people like expendable resources is nothing new. In my experience, that’s what corporations do. It is the one business that they are all in together, and often the one they are best at.

Vault 114’s experiment was supposedly to make the rich poor, to take away privilege from the privileged. Would they fall apart, or would real leaders emerge?

I find myself almost wishing the experiment had taken place. I would have liked to see the results. It is my belief that, for all our flaws, human beings would probably surprised Vault Tec. Strip away the political machine, the weight of corporate interests, and all the other chains, and the people who fought their way to the top because they had leadership qualities will actually be able to lead. Sure, there are as many who got where they are through no real skill or merit of their own. But I’d bet enough did to have taken the reigns and steered a course.

But Vault 114 was never finished. Instead, I’ve been working my way through a half-finished maze of construction. I overheard one of the ghoul triggermen suggesting it was a construction scam.

I’ve had to create a second stash. I will come back for all this stuff later. (So much cement! And I am taking it all; the minutemen settlements will definitely benefit from it. And an odd addition to my arsenal that I will not be making use of: the “Mutant Slayer’s Walking Cane”. I’m now imagining a geriatric ogre hunter… catch his adventures this fall on GNN!)

Voices up ahead. I do believe I’ve found where they are keeping Detective Valentine. And it sounds like he’s playing the guy watching him something fierce.

Angel's slow transformation continues. Desensitization can be a terrifying process, especially if you're aware of it. Still, good to see there's still some room for levity in the Wasteland.

Dis gonna be gewd.

I think one day of the pictures may be broken, though that may be because I'm on my phone.
Also been noticing the stash thing a lot, can you really do that in the game? I'm always afraid that you it'll despawn my loot if I put it in any containers outside a settlement.
Regardless, excellent work, I'm reaalllly curious to see what faction gets sided with in the end.
Oh and that video in the beginning was great, actually made me chuckle. That ain't easy these days.

Hows your new year going so far?

Also... Shouldn't Pip have a picture of her fillyfriend as opposed to Velvet. Bad homewrecking pip!

Getting closer, should be interesting to see how Nick Valentine changes certain point of view on things that Angel has.

I think Nick is my favorite companion character.

Be honest: How do you like fallout 4

That video was damn cute, I never tire of seeing pointy ponies done right.

Desensitized, desensitization. That was the word I was looking for regarding the Internet.

I find myself almost wishing the experiment had taken place. I would have liked to see the results.

Ditto. Those bastards depleted all my stimpaks. I should try using the sub machine gun more AND grenades.

One picture does not work, right after this part

"Reaching Park Street Station, I also cam across the start of the Freedom Trail, complete with the “new” robot guide. I’ll look into that later. Laser-like focus."

Oh shoot also typo.

You missed the pond.

Awe, no Silver in the video? i like her.

Stashes do work, but only for a limited time. I wouldn't risk leaving stashes behind for multiple days, but you can definitely create them on your way through an area, then come back to them after you've cleared it.

Stashes work best if you are allied with the Brotherhood of Steel or have the perk that allows fast travel while encumbered. My recommendation is to grab each stash you have created and dump the contents into an outside container. Then load yourself up with everything and fast travel (or summon a Vertibird).

(Alternately, of course, you can just decided that's what your Sole Survivor is doing in character to justify cheating with the carryweight console command. :scootangel: )

I personally love Vertibirds! They are immersive, lore-friendly fast travel that doesn't care how encumbered you are.

3661530

I love it!

The roleplaying aspect, sadly, is not as strong as in previous games. But the game more than makes up for it with the amazing settlement and crafting systems, and by making power armor truly cool and impressive again. The mechanics changes are almost entirely for the better (dialogue and roleplaying aside). The perks system is more cohesive, the combat mechanics are far better than previous games, and it turns out that jettisoning skill points makes the game much more immersive.

That said, I have already collected about half a dozen mods that I use which really assist by removing some of the more frustrating elements of the game (such as a mod that allows limited object clipping when building settlements and a mod that replaces the vague dialogue options with what you will actually say).

Oh man, I can't wait for Angel to meet Valentine... he's by far my favorite character from Fallout 4!

3661825 I know I wanted to read about Angel playing with the Swan.

that was the best line about a crappy legendary I've ever see
