Working on the next chapter · 5:25am Aug 18th, 2012
Almost done with the next chapter of "Shards of Hope." Starting to think it might be easiest to try and stick to a one-chapter per month schedule.
In other news, word count. The real challenge is finding a balance between getting across the details and important story elements and not making the chapter length intimidating to folks. Hoping that I'll be able to stay between 5 and 8 thousand words per chapter (roughly 15 to 25 pages). I'll probably need to make exceptions for really important chapters of course, but those should be rare. Hopefully.
If anyone out there is watching I want to know: How do you deal with chapter length? Where do you draw the line for a chapter being long enough, or do you decide that it's long enough when it's said all you need it to?
