Another Army Brony

One of the few Bronies in the Army, I decided to try my hand at writing down my ideas. It's been over 4 years now, and I found that I enjoy this.

    About my absence

I've been around for a bit. I've seen some things, done some things, and I've got my fair share of regrets.

I have enjoyed writing as an outlet, to get these feelings out of my head and onto a page so that I can inflict share them with you.

It's been a long time since I've been around. Let me explain why.

    Short version: Divorce.

Longer version: I'm getting a divorce.

    Well. Progress has been made.

So, after receiving some encouraging news about how I failed to make my writing suck (I know, it surprised me too), I've been smacked upside the head by my muse and dragged to my computer.

    So, yay.

Well, you see... what had happened was...

I've hit a bit of a snag with the writing.

Actually, this is a bit of an understatement.

I've slammed into the concrete barricade of writer's block at about 350 miles per hour.

    Yeah, that sounds better.

A brief dissertation on those who Clop: · 8:01pm Aug 17th, 2012

The Only Brony in the Army's thoughts on cloppers:

Not very long ago, I was asked in an instant message sent over one of these newfangled social networking sites (Facepunch, Twatter, or whatever you hip, cool kids use these days) what I thought of cloppers, and how they effect this fandom. At the time, I merely said “Keep it to yourself”, but I am suddenly and oddly compelled to elaborate on this further. So, here we go.

Note: this diatribe is aimed in the general direction of Bronies. Pegasisters should still read it, as I will try to make a few points and pass along some advice that will help everybody at some point down the road. The reason I am tailoring it more towards the bronies than their female counterparts is that it is generally true that females are under less stigma for their fetishes, their deviant urges are far more accepted than those of a male, even if they are the same urge. Think about it: the perfect example (in my opinion) is Bondage. For females, it’s kinky. If a dude likes it, he’s an oddball. That’s just what I’ve noticed. Anyways, here we go again.

My advice to “keep it to yourself” still stands. Honestly, I have no issue with people who clop or enjoy R34. To each his own. It is your constitutional right to like whatever you want, and do whatever you want (to a certain extent and within reason). That being said however, you need to keep in mind that you are a part of a targeted demographic, and what you say and / or do will be held under a microscope by those who disagree with your choices. Though it might seem like a minor thing at the time, anything you say or do can be taken out of context and applied to the fandom as a whole to cast us all in an unfavorable light. Shenanigans indeed, but sadly true.

The easiest way to preclude this is to simply not talk about it with the general public. If you like R34, good for you. From what I’ve stumbled across, I can’t help but notice that there are some very talented (and twisted) artists out there, capable of producing beautiful artwork (racy as it might be). If this is the sort of thing that “floats your boat” so to speak, good for you. What you do behind closed doors is your own business, and nobody has any right to tell you otherwise. What I ask of you, beseech of you, is that you keep it there behind closed doors. Everybody likes different things, and we all have different opinions. Bearing in mind that you are already a part of a targeted demographic (and therefore target yourself), and knowing that anything ONE person does may be used as a stereotype for EVERY brony in the fandom, please try to cast the rest of us in a decent light.

I reiterate: I have no problem with those who clop, I just ask that you not bring it up in public. There is no need to put a bigger target on the back of this fandom, there are enough small-minded people out there to do it for us. All we have to do is carry ourselves in such a way that we give them nothing to use against us, and this goes beyond clop. Remember the whole “Love and Tolerate” thing? Yeah, do that. I am truly ashamed of some of the people in this fandom (a very few), and the way they conduct themselves. Really, is it THAT friggin’ hard to be nice? To allow things to roll off your back instead of letting it fester within you? I am disappointed and ashamed of the way some bronies act, and you should be too; it gives everybody a bad image. Anyways, off topic.

Bottom Line (and say it with me): Keep it to yourself.

...does this mean I shouldn't expect any clopfics from you ever? :fluttercry:

Well said, mate, well said.

Wasn't it even Tara Strong that said the same thing in a twitter message?
But yeah, as you said, nothing wrong with clop, or cloppers, just keep it to yourself, for the world is a judgmental place, and we are already looked down upon just for being fan of this show.

But, as the saying goes; Haters gonna hate.

Meh, i'm rambling now, moving on.

Anyway, back to reading some new stories!

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I'm not sure I have it in me to do something like that, or the desire. Meh, time will tell. And as for the following comment, Very true. It's a good stance.
