Some Good News! · 11:49am Dec 18th, 2015
Howdy folks,
Some good news to report, while I've been steadily working away on things, I have managed to finish the Starlight "formatting/minor edit" pass from Prologue all the way up to Chapter 28!
I now have less than 10 chapters to go, so I will be finishing those soon.
At this point, I also now have listed the 4 "Books" that make up Starlight in the story description. Book I, which comprises of the Prologue - Chapter 11, is at this point in time done. Sealed. No touchie. Unless something incredibly major comes up, I am not going to touch these chapters any longer (unless someone actually notices a formatting thing, which I will fix those).
My reasoning on this, is that despite its weakness compared to the rest of the story, I could spend ages rewriting and rewriting this thing if I chose to do so. Instead, I am choosing to spend that energy to keep moving forward with Mending Hearts. This whole formatting pass deal was done to properly format and fix minor stuff, not to rewrite entire sections of the story.
So, Book I is sealed, Book II (Chapters 12-20) is on the same way, and I'm working still on Books III (Chapters 21-30) and IV (Chapters 31 - Epilogue).
Another thing that you may have noticed if you're an ongoing reader, is that this edit pass has indeed stripped the "Level up" stuff from the end of each chapter. While this was a cute homage to the original, it was one of those things I felt obligated to do, whether I really wanted to or not, and sometimes I felt I would end up adhering a little too closely to a perk, making it a little more video game-y. In trying to avoid this impression, the Level Up content is gone from the newly formatted stuff. In the end, I feel this is a better change, and helps the focus be on the content, not on the footnotes.
If you're a new reader, or an old hat, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to check this out. Be on the lookout in this space soon for another "Starlight Character Series" blog post (since it's been a while since we did the first one), it should be awesome.
And as always, if you like the work I do, and you feel the urge to support me monetarily, please take a moment to check out my Patreon. Not only will your support help keep me focused and writing, but I also write things for my patrons! This kind of prompt-based patronage helps keep my writing fresh and also helps me improve! In addition to any reward, most levels include a pre-reader access where you get to see things I've written before they hit FIMFic and provide your comments directly to me!
Anyways, that's all I have for now, see you kids on the flip side!
