Welp, that was dark. And SO MUCH ACTION!! LOVED it!
A legit WAR against Sombra and Chrysalis! A duel with Nightmare Moon! Discord cameo (though Discord seemed more annoying than actually dangerous). Tirek cameo (wish that had been longer- see if he actually successfully drained all magic, and that would make for a REALLY dark scene!) Cameos of those jerks Flim and Flam as robber barons! A legit post apocalyptic Equestria! Ponies in camouflage (and was that a reference to Braveheart?)! RD with a missing wing! Sweet Apple Acres as a factory! Multiple murder attempts! AWESOME tribe leader Zecora! (And was she actually killed on-screen by Chrysalis..? I need to rewatch that scene...) Magical laser unicorn duel! Also, Starlight Glimmer is right up there with the Kingdom of Avia version of the Unholy Triad (Discord, Sombra, and Chrysalis) of NASTY villains now! And this S5 finale is right up there with the finale with Tirek for "awesomely-dark'!
The only thing I didn't like was Starlight's reformation. I'd rather she'd stayed evil since she seemed to really be a sociopath. Or if they had to reform her, it should have been much harder.
Heh, if this finale is anything to go by, my story Kingdom of Avia could almost fit in canon if Starlight's time altering spell hadn't been broken. And now I want to figure out a way to fit S5-finale Starlight Glimmer in the AviaVerse.
That might be hard though, because most of the AviaVerse characters don't even have cutie marks...
I agree they should have spared more time for Tirek. Twilight having to dodge him while returning to the map would have made an epic chase scene. It would have only taken 2min 3 tops.
I just wish that Starlight could have gone back to the present more once, and refused to accept the truth. Also is it wrong to wish that something worse, than her 1 friend moving away? Lame....

For your question, I agree with that too. I wish they'd gone another, darker route than just "I lost my friend so now I'm going to become a sociopath".
3575757 Yeah, I thought of how to fix that, Starlight could have then moved forward into the past and then shown her younger-self as being rejected by her foalhood friend later that day, or even right after she goes to see him after she gets her own cutie mark. He could reject her personally. That would make her have a real reason to hate cutie marks, even her own.
