I need ideas...

As the title suggests, I am in need of ideas for a story I am trying to devise. A self insert if you will but not at the same time.
I was hoping for shenanigans and maybe a way that said character managed to appear within Equestria. Not of that bullshit, "It's Twilights fault." I've seen enough of those.
