So MTV Apparently Threw Its hat into the Whole Digimon Vs. Pokemon Debate...

I was just googling for more news on Digimon Adventure Tri when I saw this article which was titled: 'It’s Time To Finally Admit ‘Digimon’ Is Better Than ‘Pokémon"

(Sighs) Sit down everyone I'm going off on one here.

First off: THIS KIND OF THING IS WHAT GIVES DIGIMON FANS A BAD REP! I mean christ this sort of article makes it seems like Digimon fans are still salty after ALL THESE YEARS!

Secondly: There CAN be such a thing as a Switzerland state in this debate. I mean I love Digimon, in all it's forms (Except Fusion because SOMEBODY got Power Rangers in my Digimon). But I KNOW it is far from perfect. (See earlier remark on Fusion for reference.) Then there's Pokemon. I admit I know NOTHING about the show. I've seen a few of the movies and have extrapolated my opinions on it from that and what I've seen recently. It hasn't really evolved in all the time that its been around, whether you're talking about games or anime, it's still kind of the same. Does it look prettier? Absolutely. have they added new things? Definitely. But at it's heart it's still just the same.

However... I will not say that it isn't without merit. I've played a few pokemon games. What were they like? The same repetitive grinding over and over again. I got bored after I beat Platinum and tried to go straight onto Black. But I can see how someone might get some enjoyment out of it. To claim that one is better than the other is just... pathetic to be honest. They both have their pros and cons. Stuff to be enjoyed in each and stuff we wish we could ignore.

Anyone who starts this argument ANYWHERE on the internet gets my pity because it's just so petty now.

Thirdly: Why can't we all JUST, GET ALONG! We're all fucking nerds for god's sake! Why can't we just shake hands, high five, fist bump and say 'I don't understand how you can like this other thing. But maybe we can sit down and watch a few episodes with a pizza and some pepsi? Then maybe we can watch this thing I like and you don't like?'

AND FINALLY! If anyone says that Digimon copied off of Pokemon or vice versa, allow me to illuminate the issue. Pokemon and Digimon share a similar premise. Monsters follow human children around to fight other monsters. They also share 'mon' in their titles. But really, their full titles share not a term but a word. Pokemon = Pocket Monsters and Digimon = Digital Monsters. I bet if the creators of Duel Monsters had called it Duelmon we'd all be calling shit on it. The creators of both shows contacted two words and made a compound of the contractions.

Fuck they don't even share the same inspiration. Pokemon was made because the creator of Pokemon liked collecting insects, and Digimon started off as a Tamagotchi like series called Virtual Pets.

They have different inspirations, different premises, different tones, different styles, different themes and different approaches.

Bloody hell you'd thing in the fifteen twenty years this has been going on for we'd have grown the fuck UP!
